Mr. and Mrs. Nils Peterson and family At Fall Convocation, a former student of Seattle Seminary and son of the donor of SPC's original five acres, returned to his boyhood home to receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Science. Charles Peterson, the boy Alexander Beers described as having wheels in his head, was early to prove his talents. He built his first generator at seven and has gone on to pioneer many electronic inventions in the fields of radio and photography. Notable was his work during the 1920's in designing a phonograph speaker to replace the older horn-type and his later work with Eastman Kodak Com- pany in designing flash equipment and other projects even yet classified by the U.S. Navy as top-secret. Seattle Pa- cific College honors the man who grew up in our college community for his work which has touched the lives of mil- lions of people. Florentia Street. , Bottom: Photo taken by Charles Peterson about 1911 as high Third was in construction.
