Membership in the national organization accrues benefits of professional employment and informational services. In local chapter meetings, stu- dents and faculty have occasion to discover one another as social, flesh-and-blood individuals. Outside speakers ignite the realization that you too can earn a PhD. And in sharing original works of club members, the creative fire which educational bureaucracy was intended to house, once more flares through the smoke of academic routine.
