The 1966-67 women's forensic squad placed third in the nation in the Pi Kappa Delta women's sweepstakes held at Wisconsin State College with 165 colleges and universities in com- petition. The men's team placed in the top fifty per cent. Angie Doane, Marcia Boutell, Mary Ellen Robertson, Mike Hazen, and Greg Kinloch from this team returned to Seattle Pacific for another year of action. Throughout the year over twenty-five trophies were won in some 8,000 miles of travel. Eleven tournaments were en- tered: Lewis and Clark, Central Wash- ington State College, U. of Oregon, Montana, U.P.S., S.O.C., and University of Puget Sound. Interaction continued at Sacramento in the Western Speech Association Tournament, and at the Pi Kappa Delta regionals in Idaho. Paced by JoAnne Richmond and Ralph Carlson, who won first place in Lincoln- Douglas Debate and Original Poetry Reading, the forensics team brought home the third-place Sweepstakes Trophy from the prestigious Linfield Tournament of Champions, the largest and oldest college forensics tourna- ment in the Northwest.
