Highlighting this year's Christmas season was the presentation of SPC's 300-voice Oratorio Society of Handel's Messiah at Seattle Center's Opera House. Directed by lVIr. Wayne Balch, the choral group was accompanied by a 50-piece college-community orches- tra. Dr. Carl Reed added an authen- tic touch by his harpsichord accom- paniment. Guest soloists included Sheila lVlarks, soprano, Elizabeth Paeth, contralto, Thomas Tavener, tenor, and baritone, Raeder Ander- son. ln a stirring rendition the Mes- siah was a fitting climax to the campus Christmas activities.

Christ in the Concrete City AND CHRIST IS RISEN INDEED, AND GOES BEFORE YOU INTO GALILEE. YOUR GALILEE, THE GALILEE OF THE IVIODERN INDUSTRIAL CITY, OF THE NEON LIGHTS, AND THE DEPARTIVIENT STORE. A An English vicar, Philip W. Turner in an attempt to set forth dramatically the meaning of the Passion in words and images understandable to con- temporary people, wrote this poetic drama. Christ in the Concrete City is the story of something that actually hap- pened. The play is one of universal signifi- cance speaking timelessly to man- kind. Several voices blend as a unit rather than as individuals to express this point of view. The play speaks intimately to the indi- vidual in the secret places of his own soul, urging him to action here and now. This confrontation and interaction be- tween audience and actor toured throughout California and Washing- ton. The cast was composed of Rich- ard Husby, David Peak, Cheryl Hall, Delores Henson, Tom Hadduck, and George Scranton. Lighting and sound was controlled by Roger Murillog the play was directed by Dr. Geraldine Hess.
