MAUl.DlN Urtitffff States NOvy Captain Mauldin graduated fren' Georgia Tech LJniversity with o Bachelor of Science Degree in 1953 and o Master of Science Degree 'rw Physics in 1955. Following graduation, he was commissioned an Ensign and underwent Navy flrght trafning in Fensacola, Florida, and Corpus Christi, Texas. From September 1956 until August 1059, the Captain served as a pilot and administrative officer with Attack Squadron THIRTY-FIVE at the Na-.al Arr Statfon, Jachsonville, Florida. ln September 'l959, and until June I963, Captain Mauldin attended the California institute of Technology where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Aeronautics and the Degree of Aeronautical Engineer, ln July l963, he attended the Safety School at the University of California and reported to Attack Squadron FORTY-FOUR at Cecil Field, Jackson-.-tile, Florida in September 1963. In March T964, the Captain reported to Attaclc Squadron THTRTY-FOUR and from March 1966 until March 1968 served in the aircraft carrier SARATOGA as the aircraft handling officer. Following a tour in Washington, D. C. with the Center for Naval Analysis, he reported to the Naval Arr Station, Lemoore' Colifgrnigl for duty with Attack Squadron ONE HUNDRED FlFTY-FIVE as Ere-cuti-.fe Officer, and later as Commanding Officer. ln July l97l he began Nuclear Power Training at the Nuclear Power School, Valleio, California. After completion of Nuclear Power Training, Captazn Mauldin reported as Prospective Executive Officer of NlMlTZ CCVN-685 in December 'l972. He remained in that position after commissioning until May 1976. Captain Mauldin is the son of George and Ellen Mauldin of Panama City, Florida. Mrs. Mauldin is the former Mary lnman Bell of Atlanta, Georgia. They have two children, Marise and Lori, who reside with them in Virginia Beach.
