SNYDER UniH'cl States Nflvy JANUARY 22, IQYB I r r r Captain Snyder comes to Seattle from duty with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C. He was originally commissioned an Ensign on 2 September 1954 upon graduating from OCS in Newport, Rhode Island. During his career he has served in USS LAPWING iMSOlOI 48I, first as Executive Officer and then as Commanding Offi- cer, LCU Division 22, USS C. P. CECIL CDD-835Ig Staff, Destroyer Squadron 26, Staff, COMCRU- DESLANT, Commanding Officer of USS CORRY QDD-8I7I, Commanding Officer of USS VITAL IMSO--47-il, Commanding Officer of USS DEWEY QDLG-I-tl, and Commander of Escort Squadron 8. He also spent a tour of duty with U.S. Naval Forces in Vietnam. Captain Snyder's shore duty billets included a tour ot BUPERS as Head of the Active Officer Promotion Branch. Captain Snyder holds a Masters Degree itvtanagementl from Central Michigan University. He has attended the Armed Forces Staff College and the Industrial College of Armed Forces. Captain Snyder has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat V , Navy Commendation Medal witlt Combat V and Gold Star in lieu of second award, Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Stars in lieu ol second and third award, Naval Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was also awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Four Campaign Stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Captain Snyder is a native of Marine City, Michigan. He currently resides in Virginia Beach with his wife Betty and their three daughters Pamela, Patti, and Sandra.
