“THE INTERMEDIATE ROOM Perhaps our greatest pleasure this year of our Intermedi- ate Room has been just playing its part in making Seaton School the best school possible. The following diary excerpts, how- ever, tell something of our room activities. I Se tember 1939 ve are scar ng on our nTr1p Sround the World. We are looking for likenesses and differences in the ways of living of the people, in the occupations, and in the contributions to the world of the different countries. We also want to find reasons for the existing conditions. We hope to make many friends. .C2t.92aI'..l?lC'L?. We have kept diaries of our trlp, collected pictures for our scrapbook, and now we are working on our paper so the folks at home will know about our travels. We have named our paper nThe Flying Messongeru. Every month hereafter wc plan to issue it. Our new World Atlases have made our trip very interesting Our Halloween party was so much fun. Some of the girls dressed like girls of other lands. November 1939 We are all Back home in our own native land in honor of American Education Week. We have invited our mothers to a pro- gram in which we plan to tell them about our trip. December 1939 H513 Scroogeu is giving us the spirit of Christmas. We are working with the other rooms on our Christmas play, NThe Christmas Caroln. Januar 1940 The el s ave rung, vacation is over, and we are begin- ning a new year. How kind you are, New Year, to surprise us with your big snow storm and more vacation! You are just, as well as kind, for we must have well planned English talks about the fun we had during our week of no school. Februar 1940 e ourt graders with the help of the fifth and sixth grades are planning a program of original talks, poems, songs, and plays which show what they have learned about Hwheatn from the time it helped to tame man to the present means of produc- tion. How wonderful is a grain of wheat. We must pause, for at least a day, while the Achievement Tests Wcheckn our progress. March 1940 We hav5'bEon studying about 'Tho Stars and the Planetsn. As we learn about the heavenly bodies we discover our earth is a very small part of the great universe. We have brought our diary up to date.' In April we plan to work with the other rooms on the operutta, UPunch and Judyu, which is to be given in May.
