Cross Country Most improved runners for 1978 were Margie Morris and David Brady. Melissa Eddy and Scott Saulsbury were most inspirational. Saulsbury and Russ Johnson were captains. The girls finished the season second in the league, eleventh in state. The boys placed fifth in state. Coach Gene Gilbertson noted that 1978 saw the biggest turn-out ever for cross country-32 students. He thought the season was successful because ''the team all had the attitude of 'it's not how we place in the race, it's how we all set personal standards and came together as a team'. '
