His time and superior efforts were not always app- reciated, however this is a final expression of our extreme gratitude as we wish him the best as he so fairly deserves it next year at Oregon City. Homecoming came in with a SPLASH and this is putting it mildly, An anticipated $30, 000 worth of damage to the gym floor and hours of hard work to clear halls of water is no joke, Many students carried hard feelings toward whoever turned on the 9 out of 10 fire hoses throughout the school, Homecoming could have been used for an example of apathy. The effort put out by Rally and various clubs who sponsored the dating game, costume days, pie throw, etc., was hardly worth it, But the week ended in a roaring blaze we shall never forget. Thanks to a group of students who accidently misstook a pile of good alder wood over a pile of scrap, The weeks calameties ended in the Seniors winning the spirit cup. This was an added surprise which cap- tured the mood of the golds and greens displayed in decorations. The band, Myst, was just as enthusiastic with the evenings activities as were the White Cap members. But as usual it was hard to arrouse a response from the crowd, Couples spent inter- missions looking for their name tag keepsakes, conversing with friends and singing Jingle Bells with Santa. The occasic. took three months of planning and hard work, The location made it possible to have more outstanding decorations so the White Cap members worked long hours making decorations and decorating for the dance, Right- Ron Bode telis Santa that he longs for a new red wagon. So many that new classes were started such as Girls Glee, Students have found many rewards in being able to join in song. Some have even mom- entarily forgot that they were shy and timid at heart. The Seniors tentativly plan a 5 year reunion and are urged to keep in touch with Marianne Baty, Laura Furnish and Andi Reed. Many outstanding activities and awards will be remembered, Although State Champ ionships were not recaptured our students excelled together both acedemically and athletically, Science projects were many, music awards were numerous and the News- paper staff was comended for their journalistic endevors, The Powder Puff Football Game, a successful Senior project netted the Seniors with the money to have an exciting night out at the Sons of NorwayHall after Graduation jiving to the good sounds of Wesak until the wee hours of the morning. Old System Restored Seaside High was the first school to ever change the traditional Student Government, to an open council, Students accepted the changes, however lax rules and no guide lines resulted in an attendence fall back, therefore leading to the total abolishment of the council, Popular student demands and requests lead to the rapid re-establishment of the council , highlighted by the traditional political conventions. The convention memories linger on with Women libber chants for Liz Pittard while others vocalized that Wickman's no, 1. Spect- ators and enthusiasts stated that the conventions were the best that S, H.S, has ever seen or had, Pres, Mark and his trustworthy advisors , giving us $200.00 to make this beauty! ! ve 72-73 Associated Student Body Officers, Sitting from bottom to top: President Joe Wahl, Vice Pres,, Randy Stamn, Secretary, Lois Earl, Sgt. Superman and Other Folk Heros along with many additions in American Literature were added. Science took a step outside as students participated in many field trips. Journalism and Science combined forces at the beginning of the year in a media battle with environment and Shop classes added a bus barn to the district's buildings. After the English teachers first attempt at electives back in 1967, the other departments began to watch students eagerly seek out the different classes, Other teachers began looking for changes in their programs as well. We now enjoy numerous classes and therefore need a quick means of getting scheduled. The Arena method seems to do the job. This year students and some teachers worked on new classes and tried to fit a schedule that would meet our needs, It would appear that those needs were met as our scheduling was the fastest we have used . “4 Si Lu ULO | Clubs Activities Future Farmers of America Back row: Mr. Bromwell, Andi Reed, Jim Golubikas, Sasha Rai- chl, Dan Golubikas, Tim DeGandi Front: Jill Hargis, Dan Smith, Jody Crawford, Tom Martin, Steve Sigurdson, and Kurt Alve, Language Club Back Row: Stacey Brown, Tony Harrison, Leslie Doyle, David Megrath, Mr, Jessen, Robert Nordmark, Leah Griffith, Elaine Armstrong and Anita Brunswick, Not pictured is Sue Justice, ee Top: Jenny Grafton, Amy Chandier, Linda Webb, Carla Nichols, Leah Griffith, Candy Wea- ver, Kathy Benfield. Exchange Positions An all new staff this year found their way as different positions exchanged hands. Paul Steinman, John Stadter, Laura Furnish, and Kym Setzer served as editors in cheifs for various editions Cartoons were a highlight expertly done by Jim Smith and advertising was never a problem because of Steve Smits efforts. Writing also improved as was shown on the 8-page issue which was regarded by many as the finest issue ever published at Seaside. It has been a year of growth for all staffmembers including the advisor.
