We have had our problems and our dif- ferences but we have succeeded in a lot of areas. For instance, we started the year witha $90.00 deficit, but as my administration moved to an end, we are $500.00 to the good of our account. Vice Pres.: D. Stroud Secretary : C. Sweeney Other things we have done include: liberalizing the dress code, organizing a highly successful candy sale, and a- mending the Constitution to do away with political parties. My only regret is that we couldn't get more people involved in the government at Seaside High School. Phil Broome, ASB President Treasurer: Sgt. at Arms: Meg Dueber W. Poole and T. Yantis Many students found it more exciting to partake of the activities on the beach rather than attending a school pep dance with chaperones. How about you? where did all the pep dances go? Success comes to each individual in a different manner. It seems that many times success is measured by awin-lose column in a newspaper or the quarter - back club. However in a sport like wrestling, ones success can be measurec in many ways. Success can mean know- ing you have tried your best, you repre- sented your school ina sportsman-like manner, and especially, regardless of your size, you are recognized as partof a team. The 1969-70 Gull wrestlers fought against some very tough opponents this past season. The team also suffered by not having very many experienced wrestlers to fill the positions vacated by last years Seniors The team had a toughseason as their record shows. Their final season record was 11 wins and 11 loses. This years varsity wrestling coach, Mr. Robert Huntsman coached his team to a season record of 11 wins and 11 loses. He is pictured here about to show some of his first year wrestlers the standard tech- niques that lead to a successful season. Jeff Howell sets a back breaking hold on an old Neah-Kah-Nie foe. This has been the first year of Cultural Expression Club and with the help of Mr, Hayes, our advisor, we hope that the club was a great success to many students. Amati wy ee ites Editor Barbara Larfield checks over yearbook progression as deadline draws near for staff. seabreeze staff works to immortalize memories of °69-’7( The job of putting out the annual is not an easy job that can be done in a matter of two or three days. It took nine months to produce what you know hold in your hand. And alot of hard work has gone into the production and perfection of it. The staff of the Seabreeze hopes you enjoy your new annual and can look back at it in years to come and remember the time you have spent here at Seaside High School. Barbara Larfield has had the task of as- signing work and seeing that work has been done. Barbara has done many things other than hand out the work. She had to get pictures sched - uled, and see that they were taken, Other jobs on the staff include page make- up, advertisement, sales and photography. L. to R.: Irene Phillips, Bill Mulder, Len Pfund, Bobbi Lambert, Barbara Larfield, Marcia Baty, Marcia Doust, and Lee Gallier. Working on a high school newspaper has been an extreme challenge and struggle. I would like to tell next years editors and staff that even when the going gets rough and all you get from students is smart remarks- don't give up. It will be worth it in the end but there is no thanks for this type of work. I have had the opportunity to work with wonderful people, develop paper policies, deal with censorship , and attempt to live up to the expectations of a critical public. There are five important goals that a student must achieve before he or she is eligible for National Honor Society. These five goals are: sch- olorship, leadership, character, and service with dependability. Is this our advisor? Is this another Mr. Westerholm that we don't really know ? scholars of today The Seaside Chapter of the National Honor Society started out the 69-70 school year early by holding a car wash in August. The proceeds from this car wash anda light bulb sale were used to finance the Homecoming Dance, our main endeavor.
