Later in the year we sponsored a Roaring Twenties Dance” as a money raising project. We also sold Sea- side booster license plates. For the annual Junior Class Play, we put on “Books and Crooks , a comedy in a high school setting. It was a huge success. Also this year we decided to incorporate the Junior Prom and the Senior Ball into one Junior- Senior Prom. It was the best dance in the history of the school, with ninety-eight couples in attendance. As the year drew to a close we realized that next year we would be the seniors getting ready to graduate. We would be the leaders of the school and that our next year would be what we made it. Shortly before school was dismissed for the summer of 1964, we decided to donate three hundred dollars to the High School in Valdez, Alaska, to help them recover from the recent earthquake. We sponsored a new student mixer and formed a Budget Committee. Knowing that good school spirit leads to pride in one's school, we held several pep dances and sponsored the annual Homecoming Bonfire. The Student Council also held a “Toys for Tots” drive and a Christmas door decorating contest. To help improve our school, we adopted a new policy that we feel is quite successful for the lunch lines. Also, a suggestion box was placed in the main hall for the benefit of the students. In the spring we sponsored a most successful Hootenanny. We also secured a long-sought jukebox. Understanding that one of the main functions of the Student Coun- cil is to promote learning and participation in school activities, we President Bob Ni initiated a program of selecting a “student of the week”. b Nimmo I feel that the Student Council members did a superb job and can look back with pride at the past year.
