Football Coach Chet Bowser This year’s Seaside Seagull football team won its sixth Cowapa League Championship in as many years. It finished the 1961 season with a 10-1 win-loss record. The Gulls won all nine of their league games. This year they played Yamhill-Carlton in the quarter-finals of the state playoffs and defeated them 23-0. The Gulls were defeated in their semi-final round by Myrtle Point 39-7. A great deal of the Gulls’ success can be attributed to Chet Bowser, head coach, and his assistant, Steve Johnson. In their second year as head football coaches, Bowser and Johnson have compiled a record of 20 wins and 2 losses. Congratulations on a fine season, Gulls.
