Closs Huslory The class of 1951 got uts furst taste of hugh school lufe when the class of 1948 unutuated all 59 of them To show they could get un the swung of thus new lufe the Greenhorns offered square dancung and refreshments at a dance un the gym on December 13 That dance was such a huge success they gave another one on January 30 The class of 51 wull always remember theur furst year at S l-l S Theur leaders were presu dent George Crandell vuce presudent Robert McCollum secretary treasurer John Danuelson and sergeants at arms Ralph Kent and Clarence Arnold Mass Cartozuan as theur advuser kept everythung runnung smoothly After a summer s vacatuon the kuds came back a year older and a year wuser Stull beung a luttle but shy and watchung the upperclassmen the fufty oners remauned quuet untul January 14 On that date they sponsored a rally dance after the Sherwood basketball game Thus successful sophomore year was led by Bob l'VlcCollum presudent Jerry Norrus vuce presudent Donna Manuon secretary treasurer Duck Mauze sergeant at arms lvluss Helen Aldruch advuser Durung the later part of the year Jerry Norrus served as presudent when Bob uo ned the U S Army Another suncmer another year and at last mughty upperclassmen' Now they could sut across from the senuor sectuon un assemblues and act as bug as theur hugh and mughty examples The actuon lovung offucers Duck Carpenter presudent Barbara Lounsbury vuce presudent and Carolyn Krueger secretary treasurer got u wto a huddle over bug plans un the makung On November 8 they presented a quuz sh ow to the student body lt was complete wuth an wer theur qaestuons un the alloted tume of fuve seconds all paud the consequences The old problem of rausung money confronted these ambutuous students Wuth near genuus un O ratuon the class sponsored four rally dances and even more money poured un as they sold coke and hot dog at the games Tho e clever luttle basketball puns everyone wore at the State Basketball Tournament games were the resu'ts of the efforts of these super salesmen The clumax of theur uunuor year was the class play My l-leart s un l-lugh a very success ful comedy wuth Betty Choyce and Don Fraserun the leads By May 5 the whole cast durected by Mr Frank Walton was sweatung ut out How ever as soon as the hearty laughter of the pleas ed aud ence boomed out all fea s vanushed Wuth a band for the Junuor Prom and deco ratuons beyond compare May 28 was a long re membered nught l-larry Wulson and Pat Marshall made a royal Kung and Queen Orchuds were the second hugh lught of the evenung Then Wuth uust one more year these go getters really made the most of theur chance To luven up the long and rauny wunter days along came the Senuor Ball held un the Masonuc Temple Kung Freddy Adolf and Queen Sandra Honkanen seemed the udeal royalty Then came the day when lvlr Jandrall assu red the class of 51 that they had gone to school for the full term of four years lt uust dudn t seem possuble that there would be no more basket ball games dances and meetungs Class day May 25 brought realuty of the end of hugh school days Then baccalaureate followed closely by graduatuon of June 1 brought to a close four uoy fulled years Each as he left carrued wuth hum memorues addresses gufts and kund words such as are exchanged only by true fruends The future held an unknown quantuty but on June 1 1961 at the class reunuon the members of the class of 51 would agaun gather and exchange notes fx .
