We are taking, what we think is, the first man-made trip to Mars. A we board our Black and Gold space ship, we are greeted by our pilot, whom we recognized as Space Cadet Jerry Massengale. As we waved our last bood-b ys to relatives, friends, and loved ones, we blasted off into outer space. After coasting for five hours at 25,000 miles per hour through space, we began to feel rather hungry. Mary Figland, the stewardess, helped us put on our gravity boots, space suits, and helmets and we stepped out of the ship into thin air. We noticed a fancy radio-active sign advertising Gooch's Goodies and we decided to stop for a snack. As the waitress oame to take our orders we were all very astonished to find that she was Nancy Gooch from Searsboro High School. We visited with Nancy for a while and ventured on to Arments Air Supply for food and other supplies to finish our Qiourney. After further investigation, we found that the store was owned and operated by Chuck and Katherine Arment. From there, we boarded our ship to continue our trip. As we soared upward, we were suddenly stopped by a space patrolman whom we recognized as Lloyd Phillips. He proceeded to give us a ticket for speeding and escorted us to the Space Jail where we were to see the Judge. To our astonishment, we found that he was Stanley Gray. Since we were old school pals he let us off with a small fine and we started off once again. After a night of difficult traveling, we reached our destination, MARS. As we descended from the rocket, we were overpowered by a tribe of Marcians. We were surprised to find that the leader of the tribe was an American. After further conversation, we discovered that he was Glen Ladely. He took us to meet his wife, the former Joyce Pearson, who cooked us a lovely dinner of smoked dinosaur. We were then taken to meet the chief in charge of all Mars. We were greeted heartily by Chief Larry Meredith who instantly recognized us. As we entered his lavish home, we were glared at iealously by the Chief's harem. Among his 26 wives, we recognized 3 of them as: Betty Mitchell, Linda Mae James, and Sue Mayne. All of them had been previously married 37 on Earth, but they couldn't resist the adventure of coming to Mars, which was to their downfall because after they arrived, they were lured by the charms of Chief Meredith to ioin his harem. We were all sleeping soundly that night, when we were awakened by a loud buzzing. We traced the noise to the Brain Building. The Brain, Dorothy Tish, was working feverishly at her electronic panel. She was very glad to see us, but we could not stay long as her work was so complicated she could not leave it to talk with us. We decided that, since we were already up, we would go and get our breakfast. We were Qfevtly surprised when they served us American food. When we asked the waitress about this, we were told that it was prepared by an American cook. Upon investigating, we found that she was Jeanne Guthrie. She told us that life on Earth was getting rather dull, so she decided to oorne to Mars and find a iob. As we stepped outside the dining hall, one of our party was suddenly struck by a flying meteor We rushed him to the nearest space hospital, where he was taken immediately to surgery. Through the large glass windows of the operating room we were amazed to see that the surgeon preparing to operate was Bruce Lewis. After talking to the recepticnist we learned that the pretty little nurse standing beside him was his wife, the former Darlene Leaming. After being on Mars for two days we were all very anxious to get back to Earth. We decided to have the rocket completely overhauled before starting our iourney home. As we looked for a reliable garage, we noticed a large sign reading, Chucks One Day Service. Since we had met all the rest of the seniors we wondered if this could possibly be Chuck Watson. As we entered the garage, we saw that it was. We chatted with Charles until our rocket was ready then we took off for home. We arrived home in a few hours. Although we enioyed seeing the Seniors of '56 again, we were very glad to be back on Earth.
