MRS. CHARLOTTE MORGAN MR. DON PITTS MISS RACHEL GREER Home Economics Health, Drivers Education, Basketball Physical Education Coach Teachers Display Versatility in Their Classes Members of the Searcy High faculty teach a wide variety of sub- jects in many fields. With an excellent educational background in both a major and a minor field, they have prepared themselves to teach more than one subject. Coaches and physical education teachers also instruct health classes; and teachers of academic subjects often combine fields, such as English and a foreign language or math and science. Besides dis- playing their versatility, our teachers continually strive to increase their present knowledge by making use of summer vacations for travel and study. MRS. MARY PITNER Guidance, Occupations MR. JAN SHAW Band Director Dianna Stroup finds hunting insects educational and interesting. 23

ELOISE SCROGGINS Geometry, Algebra II, and Trigonometry MRS. OWETA HUMPHREY Typing, Shorthand, and Bookkeeping The joy in watching children learn, the delight in sharing what one knows, the satisfaction of creating a feeling of unity among diverse members of a class - these are the rewards of teaching. Though a teacher confronts many obstacles and burdens, he forgets about these when he sees students progressing under his guidance. He knows that the understanding they gain may give students a more intelligent approach to life and open new horizons for them to pursue. The sparkling eyes, radiant smiles, and eager questions of those who have suddenly grasped a truth stimulate a teacher to do his best. Altruistic by nature, he seeks only to share with others, to give of himself completely, so that his stu- dents can experience the same joy in learning which he has known. 22
