JAMES AHLF Superintendent Our Genial Superintendent Challenges Us To Mature The first test of a leader is that he can wisely guide and counsel his followers to meet life with conviction and the will to carry on. One man with this ability is the superintendent of Searcy, Mr. James Ahlf. Not only does he handle the administrative duties efficiently and promote understand- ing among faculty, students, and parents, but he also inspires everyone around him to attack his duties with great enthusiasm. A leader such as Mr. Ahlf meets matters rang- ing from classroom problems to extracurricu- lar activities with strength and daring. Un- daunted by conferences, meetings, reports, and endless school problems, he faces daily affairs cheerfully and wisely.

MR. LEE YARBROUGH Principal Many Detailed Tasks Keep Mr. Yarbrough Busy. Mr. Yarbrough, our versatile principal, meets the problems and demands of a large student body with the ease and assurance of an expert. He takes care of many behind-the-scene duties with interest and enthusiasm. Mr. Yarbrough has these areas of responsibility: organizing and maintaining records of pupils; organizing the program of instruction; super- vising those responsible for instruction; organizing stu- dent activity programs; maintaining public relations programs; and other duties of equal importance. A principal’s duties involve most of all the important parts of the educational process. He has been and is concerned with pupils, learning materials, and teach- ing methods. Because of these many responsibilities, Mr. Yarbrough rarely finds time, except during the summer vacation, to pursue his hobbies of fishing, reading, and golf. 17
