Gkss jflsfof Just four short years ago we the class of '58 entered high school. With our large class of 75 we had to be divided. Mrs. Walker Derr was the homeroom teacher for the girls and Mr. James Leonard was the homeroom teacher for the boys. As Freshmen we chose our class officers. They were: Amold Comer, President: Judy Sugg, Vice President: Jewell Williams, Secretary and Reporter: Coleene Honney, Treasurer. We had quite a few in our class to go out for sports. The girls on the Basket- ball team were: Coleene Honney, Dorothy Luck, Martha Nelson, Sarah Strider, Rachel Freeman, Gladys Hayes, and Judy Sugg, The boys were: Jerry Callicutt, Arnold Comer, Don Craven, and Ernest Beck. Then suddenly we were Sophomores with 66 in our class. Again we were divided with Mr. J. R. Pace being the homeroom teacher for the girls and Mr. Arthur Wright the homeroom teacher for the boys. Our class officers were: Carlton Johnson, President: Sarah Strider, Vice President: Florence Luther, Secretary: Judy Sugg, Treasurer: Charles Beck, Reporter. The girls on the Basketball team were: Coleene Honney, Dorothy Luck, Sarah Strider, Rachel Freeman, Gladys Hayes, Judy Sugg, and Mary Sikes. The boys were: Jerry Callicutt, Arnold Comer, Ernest Beck, C. M. Hayes, and Cecil Gatlin. Juniors! This was to be a big year. We were divided into two classes having Miss Jeanene Locklear and Mr. James Leonard as our Homeroom teachers. Our class officers were: Gladys Hayes, President: Roland Yow, Vice President: Sarah Strider, Secretary: Coleene Honney, Treasurer: LaVerne Auman and Shirley Maness, Reporters. The girls on the Basketball team were: Coleene Honney, Dorothy Luck, Mary Sikes, Sarah Strider, Rachel Freeman, Gladys Hayes, and Judy Sugg, The boys were: Jerry Callicutt, Arnold Corner, and Ernest Beck. The boys on the Baseball team were: Don Craven, Jerry Callicutt, and Arnold Comer. Our Marshals were: Chief, Hylton Hancock: Jo Ann Ashburn: Roland Yow: Judy Sugg: LaVerne Auman: Jewell Williams: and Jerry Callicutt. Twenty-four members were received into the Beta Club. As a means of raising money for the Junior-Senior Banquet we sold magazines and presented our class play This Ghost Business. Then in a short time our Junior year was gone and everyone was look- ing forward to our Senior year. Seniors! We never thought the first three years could pass so quickly. As we started on our final year, everyone was looking forward to our diplomas and graduation. We had begun with a large class but ended up with 50 in our Senior Class. Again we were divided with Miss Kathleen Alexander and Mr. Guy B. Funderburk as our homeroom teachers. Our class officers were: Roland Yow, President: Don Craven, Vice President: Lucy Ann Auman, Secretary: Coleene Honney, Treasurer: Judy Sugg, and Arnold Comer, Reporters. The girls on the Basketball team were: Coleene Honney, Dorothy Luck, Mary Sikes. Judy Sugg, RaCh61 Freeman. and Gladys Hayes. The boys were: Jerry Callicutt, and Arnold Comer.
