A. 3, Basketball 1, Z, 3, 4, Basketball Co-Captain 3, Football 3, 43 Baseball l, Z, 3,43 Se-Hi Sports Editor: Most Popular 611155 History It was 1n the fall of 1949 that a group of some S1Xty s1x students entered Seagrove Hlgh School We were a l1ttle t1m1d at f1rst and lt took a wh1le to get use to h1gh school l1fe, but before long we had settled down to work Our class was d1v1ded 1n to two groups Mrs Anne Moore and M1ss Colene Broadway be1ng the home room teachers For Class off1cers we elected Sh1rley Delk as pres1dent Marl Hall V1ce Pres1dent W1ll1e Mae Small Secretary and Peggy K1ng, Treasurer The school year passed qu1ckly and before long we were out for our summer vacatlon Sophomores' Wasn't It mce to have dropped that name Freshmen' Now we were really a part of h1gh school lxfe Tlus year our class was cons1derablv smaller yet we were d1v1ded Mrs Harrls tak1ng the g1rls and Mr Parker the boys For our class Off1C ers th1s year we aga1n chose Shlrley Delk as Pres1dent Ray Scott as V1ce Pres1dent J1mmy Ray Hunter as Secretary and Audrey R1chardson as Treasurer Our class had the pleasure of takmg a tr1p to Rale1gh Durham and Chapel H111 wh1ch we won't for get Some of the students won basketball letters toward the last of the year Juruors' ' How qulckly our h1gh school l1fe at 'ole' Se H1 was passmg Th1s year we had many thxngs to do We were glad to fxnd that M155 Ann Fowler was to be our home room teacher F11-st we chose class off1cers wh1ch were Pres1dent Henry IVIerr1tt V1ce Pres1dent Sh1rley Delk Secretary Ruth Rose and Treasurer Ray Scott S1x of our number rece1ved Beta Club bxds Before long lt was t1me to order our class r1ngs For th1s we had all been lookmg forward to for a long t1me After much commot1on we f1nal1y dec1ded on the red sets They came 1n March and were d1splayed proudly the rema1nder of the year Then we were plannxng and earn1ng rnoneyfor our Jun1or Sen1or banquet We sold magazmes and presented a play from wh1ch we earned our funds Both the play and the banquet proved to be a success end the year we went to Aberdeen Lake for a p1cn1c Our Jumor year was gone but not forgotten Sen1ors' ' ' Our last year of hlgh school' How could we so soon have cl1mbed to the top? 'P We were quxte a smaller group than when we had f1rst reached h1gh school but we had ga1ned a great deal 1n knowledge Th1s year we were proud to fmd that Mxss Ramona Ascough was gomg to be our adv1sor The class soon began th1nk1ng of class offlcers the Se H1 staff and Superlat1ves Class off1cers were Thomas Campbell Pres1dent Ray Scott V1ce Pres1dent Bonn1e Callahan Secretary and Verna P1tt1llo Treasurer We the Sen1ors had much work to do on the annual so we began r1ght away After much work and worry we soon had enough money to pubhsh our 1953 Se H There were many more act1v1t1es the class play the banquet and the class tr1p whlch we greatly enjoyed Then came the b1ggest day yet our graduat1on As we th1nk back over those happy years at Se H1, we would hke to stop now and thank our parents teachers and fr1ends for all the help and understand1ng they have shown us the class of nxneteen hundred and f1fty three FINIS One by one our happy school years rolled by Leavmg happmess as xt passed Now our school days have come and gone They ll brmg us happmess to the very last We worked and studxed for twelwe long years Always thmkmg about our grades But there was always a fa1thful teacher To help us along the way Soon we'l1 have no classes to attend, No one to say Why are you late'7 But we w1l1 love, eat and make merry, To meet whatever 18 our fate Bobby Pre sn ell Poet Q 1 1 1 .
