Loyalty, enthusiasm, pride, sportsmanship, co-operation, and friendliness are only a few of these qualities practiced by our students and teachers from day to day. In the pages of the Talon you will find examples of th-ese qualities and the people who made them. We hope it will bind you closer to your present friends, that they may not be forgotten later on. We hope that you will enjoy this yearbook as much as we have enjoyed putting it together. May it help to bring back many delightful memories of your days spent at Seagraves High. Iknow of no way of judging of the future but by the past Patrick Henry Dedication MR. ROSS A. BUCKNER To show appreciation to a man who gives himself to Seagraves School and community life and demands no praise in return, the annual staff, student body, and faculty dedicate the 1963 TALON to Mr. Ross A. Buckner, Superintendent of Schools. His unselfish interest in working for a better school and better community has endeared him to all of us. As Superintendent of Schools, his diligence has inspired both old and young to strive for higher goals in life, education, and community service. 'To our Superintendent, we dedicate the TALON. Who's Who I AMES PETTY James' high school career has been marked by his devo- tion to his school, class, team, and fellow students. He has shown ability, fairness, and dedication in all of his school activities. He has demonstrated that hard work and diligence bring worthy rewards in the esteem of faculty, school organi- zations and others. James has been a credit and an inspira- tion to Seagraves School and to all of his associates. LINDA TAYLOR A student who typifies the very heart and spirit of our high school in a most remarkable manner is Linda Taylor. Her personality, infinite industry, humor, sense of proportion and spiritual make-up form the desirable traits that are es- sential to her role as a leader. Linda's many fine qualities have endeared her to her fellow 'students and members of the faculty. BILLY RAY BEAN Industry, integrity, perseverance and ability number among the qualities which Billy Ray Bean possesses. In aca- demic work and athletic participation, he has proved him- self a competitive and dedicated individual. His friendly smile and highly cooperative manner have earned him the respect and high regard of his fellow students. Deserving of honors given him, they are a definite salute to his character. 1961-19 62 Sammy Faulkner In S.H.S. ALTON HASS ELL Ability and perseverance have characterized Alton in all academic phases of high school. He is a very conscientious worker in his church, and has received the Eagle award in Scout work. His sincerity, dependability, and scholastic rating have won for him the respect and admiration of the student body and faculty of Seagraves High. ,TUNE SMITH Meritorious service --in every facet of school life best describes June Smith. Her illustrious school years have been marked by many honors and awards, all richly deserved. She is an honor student, talented actress, and a distinguished student leader. June combines a sense of humor with cheer- fulness and talent to become one of the outstanding young women in our school's history. ROGER WARD Roger has worked himself into the top files of the high school roster by excelling in all academic phases of high school work. To any problem in his courses he has the solu- tion. Roger's philosophy stated in the words of Tennyson: How dull it is to pause, to make an end, To rust unburnished, not to shine in use! To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. His services to his community are far-reaching. He is loyal to his church as well as to his civic organizations. His in- tegrity, loyalty, and scholastic abilities have earned for him the respect and admiration of the student body and the faculty. Mr. and Miss S.H.S.
