The Varsity Club is an organization formed to honor varsity athletes. To gain entry, one must earn a varsity letter and must also be voted in by the club's members. The club performs many helpful services to the school. They help to control congestion in the halls, supervise the running of the annual Mace-Tomahak Dance in cooperation with the Wantagh Key Club, and also award plaques to various coaches at the annual Dad's Club awards dinner. The Varsity Club is advised by Mr. Valvano. Page 106

Every high school has its outstanding athletes. The best of these athletes are often named to an all-league or all-county team. It is rare when an individual is named to three such teams. This year at Seaford We have such a person in Jim Valvano. Jim, a senior, has been named to the all-league baseball, basketball, and football teams. He was also named as all-county shortstop in baseball and just missed being all-county quarterback in football. Jim has been flocked by college offers but has limited his choices to Colby College, Al- bright College, and Rutgers University. Seaford High School pays its tribute to Jim Val- vano. Page 107
