This has been a momentous year in the lives of all Americans. We have experienced the dismay of being out-distanced in a field in which we have always considered ourselves supreme. Some people have tried to find a scape- goat for the position in which we have found ourselves. Malreshift suggestions for improving the mathematical and scientific offerings in our schools were volunteered by many. Some of these suggestions intimated that scientific subjects should be advanced at the expense of our other offerings. We do need to review and revise all our subjects, but, at this time when the art of destruction has reached new heights, we should not abandon those arts which might produce world peace. E. I. I would like to congratulate and commend the class of 1958. Your splendid co-operation, interest, and enthusiasm have been greatly appreciated by me. We did a lor of work, but yet had our fun, in taking tests, making applications, selecting colleges or vocations, and'the numerous other things necessary for you to take the next step toward higher achievement. Your ambitions and ideals have been high and you will be awarded a place of distinction in the school history. We do not want this record to end here. As the respective members of the class take separate roads in pursuing careers, I am sure the same level of accomplishments will be maintained. My best wishes go with you. james B.
