AUGUSTINE-The Sandcrabs, defense bolstered by penalties, held the Yellow Jackets deep in their end of the rain-soaked grid during most of the first half, but the highly favored Jackets tallied late in the second quarter. OCTOBER 12 -DAYTO NA BEACH-The Sandcrabs put their offense into scoring territory three times against the invaders from Cocoa. Practically everyone is here, chatting over old times and looking delightfully gay for the festive occasion. One of my favorite people, GARY GRABE, is emcee tonight and, I might add, doing a fine job. Out on the dance floor I see those famous cat dancers , MARTHA BRUCE, FRANK SWINDLE, JERRY SCHWARTZ, and GUY MILLNER showing off the latest steps. There's CAROL BARBER and MARION THORNTON, our favorite school teach- ers, with an intent ear bent toward all conversation trying to spot someone using the wrong words. They'll have their chance now because entering the front door is the town's playboy, JERRY TUCKER, with that lon-n-n-g line of his. GERALD MOORE and ARTHUR ULLMAN have taken the prompter's seats and are recalling their vocabulary in order to supply him with words. The town's doctors, ROBIN LENHOLT, LARRY GRAHAM, VIVIAN ORR, and their nurses, ,BETTY WINN, ADINE WULFE- K I KUHLER, CAROLYN WILLIS, JAY TULLER, and SANDRA COCHRANE, enter, looking well fed and prosperous. That's not strange though as dietitians JANE ROSS and JEANNE SCOTT are planning their meals for them. Everyone is turning to watch KAY SCHMIDT and NANCY WILLIAMS, Powers models, enter. Too bad all of us can't keep the trim neat figures they have. Psychiatrist BILL BENNER0, sitting a few tables away, seems to be peering into every one's mind trying to read their innermost thoughts. Sitting next to him are LYNN COOPER, X-ray technician, and Pl-IILLIP WAGNER, chemist, who are discussing the new atomic powered car. I can't help but marvel at the dazzling array of talent and splendor gathered here. Designer ANNE DONAVIN, back from a tour of Paris, is dressed in one of her original dresses. BARBARA DODD is showing off the blue prints of her newly designed penthouse. Just driving up is BARBARA HENDRIX. in one of her many t . self-designed custom built cars. One the other side of the room, not quite drowned out by the music of BOB WI-IITENER S, S orchestra 1 hear the click of typewriters. Of course in would be none other than ,pos DUNKE1l'anc1 HELEN WHITE typing up a review of this party for their papers. The invention of the pocket typewriter was certainly a luxury for them. Mov- ing over to the window I see DAVID KEMP: prominent lawyer, ROBERTA LOVETT, his secretary, and CAROLYN SMILEY, court reporter, stepping out of their Cadillac. The door opens again and in walks PATTI CHESTER minus the kids. Hubby must be babysitting. The newly weds, JEAN LISLE and GAIL MERTHE, and SUE LAGER, wife of the Cleveland Indian pitcher, are sitting at the center table with their husbands. SANDRA DeARMAS is on the absentee list tonight as she is giving another art exhibit in Paris. Also in Gay Paree on a tour are the Hell Drivers , RANDY ROGERS, DON DAYTON, TERRY McCABE, and FRANK FOY. JAY ADAMS is employed as their private mechanic and mechanical engineer, BILLVWOODFILL, is along for new ideas. Speaking of tours, MARY POWELL and CHRISJGINOCCHIO are also away tonight leading the nations band over the coun- x 'l try for .MORRIS NOWELL 'S campaign speeches. Everyone seems to be sharing his talent with the world. Olympic swim- mers, BILL and HANK WENZ, and RONNIE HASSELMAN, are splashing away in Sweden hoping to retain their title. Getting back to the people gathered here I remember seeing a notice on the society page informing me that GARY SMITH, former weight lifter, is now the nation's best dressed man. It isn't hard to see why by his appearance tonight. A l 3 8 i The program is beginning and first on the list is the Club '54 Quartet, composed of JIMMY ALLEN, TONY MAGOULAS, WIL- BUR LOWE, and BEVERLY MANSELL. Secretary CAROLE PRYDE just remarked that she has them booked for the season. MARI- LYN SUE MCCARTHY, now leading the Monroe vs. McCarthy race, will follow singing the old favorite, Diamonds Are a Gir1's Best Friend Glancing over my shoulder, I see the celebrated MISS ELEANOR CLANCY conversing in her usual sophisti- cated manner with BETTY GINSBERGQ By the way, it is rumored that Betty will do her new exotic snake dance tonight--less the seven veils. Even BOB STONE who has rejoined the Navy is here for our annual party, and just arriving from Texas is Cow- boy TED SCHEITLIN. PUNKY LAKE is still flying around the world at the expense of TWA and her favorite passenger, it seems, is IRENE KYPREOS who has been opening dress shops all over the country. Speaking of traveling, PAT MIZE and BETH HODGINS., now profes- sional scouts , have been wearing out a pair of shoes a day with all the hikes they 've been taking. BOB EDRIS has just completed his ministerial study ditto BEVERLY STOUP. According to all the reviews, JOHN BUCK- NER'S latest play for the internationally known Abbey Players , is a tremendous success. Starring in it are JUDY COLOMORE and BILL BAY. I've heard that LEE CRAFT and DANIEL AMBROSE who have been setting props for him are switching to the movie business. In case you've been wondering, the signs all around the room advertising Go South Young Man were distri- buted by GABY GORDON. Just leaving the dance floor is the dashing DICK GRISWOLD who is still displaying his artistry on the beach as a life guard. ATWOOD TAYLOR can also be found under a beach umbrella. JOAN PARTRIDGE just finished writing Large Chartreuse with music by GEORGE SMITII. BARBARA LEE and DAVID MADDOX are in charge of dance and gymnastics departments. KITTY FOXmremarked a moment ago that while ushering at the auditorium she went back stage and talked to that versatile man of stage, screen, and radio,rS,TANLEY GUSTINZ Our emcee tells us that TONY LATFORD has returned to England, his birthplace, and that ELIZABETH JOHNSON has journeyed to Mexico for further study in cooking Mexican foods. SELBY ALLEN and KATHLEEN GRAVES made the headlines with their plans for the housing project for veterans. ROGER HAYES, STEVE McLACHLIN, and VERNON MCCULLOUGH, traveling salesmen , jokingly tell me they are planning to buy houses and settle down for a while. The club is packed tonight but something is missing. Yes-here they come, now, filling the last table--three glamorous stars, GINGER ADKISSON. BARBARA VOLLEY , and GLORIA BELL, and their escort for the night, that dashing man of the world, RICHARD WALKER. Our party is complete now but a glance at the clock informs me that it's time to run. 139 I. With We To May We, To To We To I. For In Upon We, To I, We, To We, To To Prior To To I, We, To 1.
