The Christmas party was a big success with carol singing, candy canes, and Janet dressed like Santa Claus. There are so many things to remem- ber, as we loolc baclc on our stay here. Remember how surprised Miss Thornbury became when she dis- covered one ol us chewing gum? Remember how hard Miss Tucker tried to teach us how to typewrite? All of the stories Mrs. Davis told us added much to our enjoyment of her classes. Will you ever forget how often Pat Connor said Uhonestlyu? Or how seriously Janet reported on the Ameri- can lndian situation? Remember all the colces we consumed over at Schraliljfs while we discussed all our problems? Betty Pechillo created Herbert and upoolcien while Martha Anderson became even more pro- ficient on the typewriter. Edith Greenberg became even more energetic. while Meg, Janie, and Janet became busier and busier. Sallyanne's posters added beauty in contrast to the cloudy atmosphere of the smolcer. Kay's beautiful clothes were a treat each day. and Anna's hearty laughter echoed from the third floor. Oh, there are so many things to remember. One of the sadder things is the sight of the sign Air Raid Shelter, for what it stands lor can only bring troubled hearts. The world we are going out into is a fast-moving one of much com- plexity. The shadow of war once again threatens the security of peace and the American way of life that is so precious to us. We can only hope and pray that our world will be safer and more understandable-for it is at our fingertips. 5
