IQ53 Four years have flown by leaving us with an irreplaceable Scripps edu- cation-an education for living with ourselves and with our fellow men. Our lives have been enriched, our views broadened, our sense of values quick- ened. Long after names and dates become hazy, we will have our ability to reason, to tolerate and understand, to meet life with a joy and a determina- tion, for such is the essence ofa liberal arts education. These are the bases for life which Scripps has sought to develop in us, and these are what she be- queathes to us at graduation. Together we receive these gifts, for them we are grateful. After we separate, each to live her own life, perhaps our appre- ciation of Scripps will become even deeper. Emerson believes The years teach much which the days never know. Perhaps the years ahead will be the ones to show us the real Scripps. lf it is only through our own experience of life itself that we will come to know Scripps, let us then consider that we have made her acquaintance in four years, during the rest of our lives, let us cultivate her friendship.
