Our bathosphere descends into the inky blackness of the Racoonian Sea in the year of 1966 The suns rays become less penetrating as we approach the c1ty of Seniors, 1956 The first eye catcher 18 a whale of a big neon sign announcing the S 8: S Drive In managed and operated by Shir' etta and Sharletta Boulware specializing in french fried caviar Who should be perched on top on that whale of a big neon s1gn but Darwin Christensen the foremost designer of fabulous neon signs Inside Ricardo Oxenford, the ham of the class, was calm lackadaisl cally decorating sea shells from the land of the sky blue waters Who should show his presence by QLLQQQ Said, alias 'Detective Wide Eyed Said , weary from his trauegsxtang pausoinghfog 2 refreshment CWOMENJ e oor e S Drive In was the Me by several dozen mermaids having their hair drazgaiiiagsugylgdogybggllnitgccigsged creator of the foremost :Ln hair styles Who should appear before our wondering SYGS but a giant clam plus a very large toe belonging to none other than Jgggy g1112CZ1amPZgL'pJ erry had been trapped for several hours after digging for clams for Who should come to his rescue but Virginia Taylor who was in the area doing lay outs for her sports magazine, Streams Her photographer, Paul Fost , snapped a photo of the hilarious sight Virginia pulling Kunie's toe from the lammv ld l c Sugdenlyimsmoosh, our bathosphere sprung a leak in the air hose It just S0 happened that Llog Richards, the wonder mechanic, was in our vicinity and when he saw that we were in trouble, he fixed the leak and we were directly on our way lhe next stop, the Blue Gill Schoolhouse The principal in charge , Joyce Lucht, greeted us and directed us to the gym area where Wane Seaman who was train ing octupuses for the 1976 Olympics In the science room, Izola Fielding was rays penetrate to the bottom of the ocean After leaving the laboratory we Journey down the block where we ran 1nto a fish hatchery which 15 run by Jerg Hall, One of his scientists, Glenda Legore, rrying on experiments for better fish food ls GaAs we journey down the street what should we see but a big sign readlng Dale Sg,y5e's Underwater Diaper Service' We stopped to investigate the unusual but how t e o profitable business His secretary, Arlys Frazier, ezqnlained the process of Dale turned out clean, fluffy diapers Next door to the diaper sevice was hospital Down the hall Verla Remsburg was the nurse to all sea animals , felt sick She and Dr Tom Kelly were laboring over an octupus with leg aches At the seaport we found Mag Sue Hanna, a sealine stewardess desperately trying to calm her passengers before their departure to some land of slq blue water Just beyond the seaport was an ampitheater where we stopped to see a recent movie :Ln order to rest our travelers bones and release our travelers cheques Who should we find, but Dolores Byerly, the most highly rated critic in the sea Her ability has excelled above all others On the street we found Iris Murphy pushing a cart laden with flowers from land She gave us each a bunch of Iris's Who should give us a lift to the outskirts of town but Laura Richards who was testing amphibious cars for the Phibi Company Riding along with her was Carol-.IE Sailer who was eaqaerimenting with some color harmonized bubbles she had created for the 1966 Amnhiblous Car Imagine 250 sea horse power And what slim' lines The amphibious craft came to a halt :Ln front of a small church nestled the seaweed As we went inside we felt the warmth of a friendly place away from all evil Behind the pulpit stood Donna Rae Carrick giving the word of the gospel to the scavengers to the sea She seemed hap y and content in her work After leaving the church, we came upon a huge p Le of sponges We started to carry one away for a souvenir when we were called to a halt by Jean Jubell She told us it had taken her all day t make such a catch Hm' It seems to me that we haven t contacted everyone Oh, there are some more of our pals at the Bacoonian L 8: G Bar Ranch It is owned and man aged by Gge and La-gy Cwho Elsel In the house we were m-ved tea by their most gracious guardian, Marilyn Johnson Marilyn told us to journey to the prairle and we would find the foreman who turn out to be Robert Hunter He was busily rounding up sea horses on the Racoonian Prairie. Robert said that there was to be a class reunion the following Saturday, but we had to leave for our time was soon to run out. As we ascended back to land, a smiling face peep- ed in the window of our bathosphere. 5-lj.-m Calder, a pearl diver, showed us hundreds of pearls he had clutch in his hand. Jim mst be in the monev now. Sigh! Gee, I must have been asleep. TUBE was the strangest dream. Imagine being able to see all the seniors of 1956 in one dream.
