The Notional Honor Society started the school year with the induction of new members. During the month of December the Notional Honor Society was involved in Christmas caroling for the elderly in the Catholic parishes. Another event which was first introduced this year was the computer doting fun, where the students filled out a questionaire, and the comput- er evaluated them, and sent bock o sheet listing ten opposites that they would be the most compatible with. This brought about much laughter and shock to some, and was a welcome diversion to all from the long third quarter. In March, the National Honor Society provided snacks for the teachers during the day during Teacher Recognition Day. They also sponsored a live bond, the Deal, at a school dance. Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards and leads us From this world to another — Pluto. Most people realized the impor- tance of the month of January. This was the month that Halley's Comet said hello to the world from many hundred million miles above, present- ing us with a beautiful light display. Scientists, astronomers, and even the stargazer hobbyist fine tuned their telescopes and used them as a spectacle into the heavens. Newspa- pers, magazines, the news, and special programs befuddled the pub- lic with a menagerie of media and pre-event hype on the subject. Holley's Comet was not always viewed as a beautiful creature and mystifying element, however. In an- cient times, noted tribal leaders feared the coming of Halley 's Comet; they thought the comet would bring about doom and their civilizations would perish. The famous Pttilla the Hun, fierce tribal leader of the Mon- gloid Cmpire in the mid-400 P.D. ‘s thought Halley's Comet would mark the end of the world. Cven Pope Calixtus III of ancient Pome doted the comet as 'an agent of the devil.' There is also some talk that Holley's Comet was the bright star seen by the Three UJise Men. 56 Vickie Borneo and €d fehringer Boy and Girl State Girls' State Vickie Borneo is an active Scotus individual. COLUMBUS, NCBR. 68601 139 si doj6ojnu Mott Hansen starts on his pages. Mark Love and Scott Heimes work on sports pages. Rs the year came to an end and the yearbook was finally finished, the journalism staff felt a great sense of accomplish- ment. Everyone always seemed to be busy working on pages and seldom did we have a free moment. For the seniors, the year flew by and before we knew it, graduation day was upon us. UJhen things got tense in the cramped journalism room, we olwoys had our Sears Com trek radio and Gina Liebig's refreshing laugh to relie ve the tension. Gina always entertained in some way, either by telling jokes or playing patty-cake on the heater with the window open. New pants for the girls, ripped sweaters, and Travis and Matt's problems on the organizations pages always seemed to be a hot topic of conversation. Scott Heimes did a commendable job with photography. LUe chose our cover, designed after the HiZZ album ' Rock 'n Roll Over'' and our theme ' SCC on Tour, '86'', because music and socializing was a big part of the year. The class has a common denominator of a love of music. The cover design was done by senior Jerry Zywiec. Personal thanks are extended by the Journalism class for the long hours Jerry spent on the design. The divider pages and class pages were done by Rmy Liebentritt, Gina Liebig, and Carla Podraza. Dances and senior pages were done by Dave Rhode, Michelle Quottrocchi, Jill Reiser, and Steve Merrill. Organizations were done by Matt Hansen and Tra vis Hluck. Sports pages were completed by Mark Love and Scott Heimes. Cven though many things seemed to get misplaced or even thrown away, and deadline always seemed to be tomorrow, we all worked hard to make a great yearbook. Thanks to Mrs. Bstandig for all her help along the way. LUe hope you enjoy it. four Cditor Steve J.
