After last year's 6-3 season endefl, it was time to start rebuilding and setting new goals. The team had great , expectations with good leader- ship from a large senior class and a very strong group of underclassmen. This team was a very dedicated one as it sought to improve each week for the next game. After compiling an un- defeated regular season of 9-0 f regular the Shamrocks earned a first ever berth in the state play-offs. The football team took advan- tage of their play-off situation as they defeated Wood River, Aurora, and Omaha Roncalli respectively to earn a seat in the State Championship game against Qothenburg at Pawnee Park. The Shamrocks received the gold medal when they beat Qothenburg 10-6. The season will be long remembered and cherished and the championship trophy will be a constant reminder of these accomplishments. 69 Honormen Bottom Row: Don Brakenhoff, Bob Klopnieski, Doug Brakenho f. The season for the Shamrock's may have ended sooner than they had planned but throughout the season they really showed their competitiveness as a team. The goal of going to state had been in their minds since the beginning of the season, but their dream was crushed by a very strong Hartington team. Coach Peterson feels that the girls make many steps of improvement throughout the season. He was very proud of their successful season. Box 946 Columbus, HE 563-4519 143 The 1985 school year came to a close with a feeling of accomplishment for the entire student body — but especially for the seniors and the Journalism staff. The year went faster than anyone expected, at times it may not have seemed that way but all in all, the year flew. Many mishaps and disappearing photos kept the entire Journalism staff on the run. Mere are just a few of our troubles: Donna 's hard work taking intramural tennis shots and homecoming decorating shots only to find out there was no film in the camera. Mr. Qross' tough time getting the alumni newsletter put together because of several camera mishaps. Pete 's problems with the volleyball pages and the pictures he had to work with, Colleen and Geri's musical talents kept us entertained throughout the year, and Mrs. Bstandig's smile always kept us going. There were a lot of times when we worried about how we were ever going to put this yearbook together by the deadline. But with a lot of hard work and determina- tion from the staff and a lot of patience from Mrs. Bstandig, things turned out great. Looking back on this, my last year, I came to realization that setting goals and reaching for your dreams isn 't always easy, but with the help of friends and family, anything and everything is within your grasp — it just takes time and determina- tion to accomplish all you want to. We chose Z - 85: The Rocks. as our theme because we thought it carried through our feelings for the year. Music expresses a lot of emotions and a lot of emotion is wrapped up in this entire year for the Class of '85 as we go our separate ways. ” Remember to reach for your dreams, they're right there waiting for you to take hold of. Good Luck! '85 Yearbook Editor, 144 dOJOlLU ? Kennedy The layout designs for the opening pages and the division pages were designed by Mike Demuth. The cover design and theme were created by the Journalism staff. All individual pictures and formal group pictures were furnished by Gary Anderson 's Photography Studio. All candids were taken and printed by members of the Journalism staff (Pat Kuta). Sports pages were done by Todd Peterson, Greg Jarecke, and Jeff Lassek. Class pages were done by Cindy Krause, Pat Kuta, and Lisa Spenceri. Organization pages were done by Geri Hilger, Patty Miedbalski, and Colleen Krzycki. Dances, graduation, ads, and Junior high pages were done by Laurie Kennedy, Donna Schieffer, and Mark Love. WAL8WUHTM niBLttHIMt, CUMMNT MARCKUMK.
