Homecoming 1982 Queen Karen Pokorny and King Greg VanDyke On October 22, the Scotus Shamrocks played their Homecoming game against Aquinas and celebrated their annual Homecoming dance. The Queen, Karen Pokorny, and King, Greg VanDyke, were crowned during the halftime of the game by 1981’s Homecoming royalty Lora Kurtenbach and Dave Englebert. The band, Wrecking Company played to the theme of “Sharing the Night Together”, which was the theme that was chosen by the senior class. Before the big Homecoming game and dance Spirit Week took place. These days were set aside to do crazy things to get the team and fans psyched for the game. Monday was called “Backwards Day”. During this day clothes were worn backwards. Shirts, earrings, and padlocks were placed on backwards by both students and faculty. Tuesday was “T.O.A.D. Day” which stood for “Team Organization Activities Day”. On this day students who belonged to an organization or participated in sports wore the uniforms that represent these activities. Wednesday was “Let’s Get Physical Day”. Jogging suits, muscle shirts, and headbands were worn by many. Thursday was “Mourning The Loss of the Monarchs”. During this day black was worn. Black gloves, sweaters, and socks were a few of the articles worn. Friday was “Green Day”. Everyone wore green this day to symbolize the spirit of SCOTUS.

Terri Jackson and Chris Pokorny . , | J y y+i T Looking back on days gone by, We remember a theme from junior high. It is only a song from that time. But we know it suits us fine. Our class has gone through a lot over the years. The happiness, hardships, and all the tears. We have grown as a class and become one, But we know there’s still much to be done. Throughout this past week our pride has shone through. The qualities: Unity and Spirit are found here too. Our last Homecoming is finally here. The game, the dance and the fun is drawing near. We’ll be feeling so fine, we’ll be dancing light as a feather. Because Friday night we’ll all be SHARING THE NIGHT TOGETHER! w Colleen McLaughlin and Scott Spenceri 21
