The play portrays the story of an unemployed business- man trying to cope with the problems of urban society and his eccentric family. Mr. Wrage, the new drama teacher, chose a play with a small cast since there hadn't been a play at Scotus for a few years. He chose the Neil Simon comedy because it proved a challenge for him as well as for the students. I Drama 125 While patrons of the Scotus spring Dinner Theatre enjoyed the spaghetti prepared by the Scotus Mothers Club, they also enjoyed the production of a Jules Feiffer comedy under the direction of Mr. Jon Wrage. Based on characters and situations which have appeared in the popular comic strip, FEIFFER'S PEOPLE was set on a nearly bare black stage against a back- ground of enlarged Feiffer cartoons. A large number of actors appeared as a number of characters in over fifty very short scenes, some lasting as little as five seconds. Nor was only acting involved. Deb Thiele and Lynette Hogelin also danced. Members of the cast were Lynette Hogelin, Karen Martin, Floyd Kosch, Terri Dreifurst, Monica Krings, Kelli Tooley, Gary Schieffer, Barb Meyer, Noreen Dowd, Tami Bogus, Deb Thiele, Dennis Ryba, John Mausbach, Tim Harrington, Chuck Cuzba, Brian 0'Hearn, Ken Zoucha, Marie McGillivray. Bill Fox, Paul Melcher, Pat White, Carl Zoucha, and John Kopetzky. Peg McGill ivray werved as student director for the production. Winning trophies and medals in speech this year were Pam Wiese, second place Optimist; John Kopetzky, first place Optimist, first place Platte; Terri Steiner, third place Platte; Tony Weiland, third place Platte; not pictured, Carl Zoucha, 3rd place Conference. Drama 127 128 This year's annual staff kept itself busy selling ads along wit trying to meet deadlines. They put their ingenious minds and sharp pencils together and created a new look- ing annual. The sketchbook theme is portrayed through- out the book. This year's SCOTISTICS staff got off to a slow start because of a few diffi- culties, but the wait was well worth it. The staff produced some interesting articles and keep the school informed on the events going on. One new as- pect of the paper was that editor An- nette Ebel kept on top of the action taking all the pictures they used. Scotistics 131 PICTURED ABOVE is the 1976-77 School Board consisting of: Fr. I want to share with you one of my favorite passages from the Bible: By this will all men know that you are my disciples, by your love for one another. (Jn. 13:35) I cannot imagine a more exciting and reward- ing role to play in life than to be counted among Jesus' disciples. But what a challenge, too, for you Scotus stu- dents to let the world see that this is true in your life. Believe your faith in your heart, but live it out loud. A man does not light a lamp and then hide it under a bushel basket. He sets it on a lampstand for all to see. (Mt. 5:15) I ask you: Does anyone know that you are Jesus' disciple because they can SEE that you love one another? Another school year has ended and another class has graduated. Where will we be when we next meet? For most It will be In the same commu- nity for the next few years. For others it will be in another community and months or years from now. This yearbook will be a valuable tool to enable you to bring your memory back in focus. Keep this yearbook and you will find many fond memories come back to you when you look at it ten or fifteen years from now. Styles change and so do people, but what is recorded in this book will remain the same. God bless you all. TOP LEFT: Fr. Frank Kordek and Fr.
