TAP ML...-u.. 2 TAP SCOTTVILLE RADIO CLUB ARLYN ROSANDER A eluh was organized this year whose purpose deviates eonsiderahly from the ordinary line ot' organizations. 'l'he liadio l'luh is strietly a seientiiie or- ganization with the purpose of studying radio telegraphy and allied suhjeets. Radio telegraphy is hy no means young, hut the ignoranee of many of this modern wonder is stupendous. lt is fast heeoming one ot' the great faetors in eonneeting South Ameriea, Atriea and other isolated distriets with their neighhorsg it is replaeing eahles and heeoming more and more prominent hy hringing ahout hetter eommereial relations. The Radio t'luh organized not only to stimulate interest in lladio, hut to faeilitate progress therein, making it edueational and useful at the same time. We organized early in the year and although our memhership never exeeeded six, ive place great hope in the future. 'We have no transmitting' apparatus yet, hut our receiving apparatus is up to the minute in every detail, inc-orporating all the latest implements due to the late war. Hur receiving' range is ahout three thousand miles. Weather and press hulletins are reeeived daily, and ships heard eommunieating with eaeh other many miles out at sea. Amateur radio is hy no means a joke: it was ereated hy ll. S. art, and is fully eontrolled hy it, and under whit-h the amateurs are doing' fine work, making reeords that rival the heist naval stations. ln faet, in proportion to the energy used and restrietions thereon, amateur stations rank set-ond to none.
