7 A A fl Munn- it ROOSEVELT LITERARY SOCIETY At the beginning of the year a certain few boys of the High School, wish- ing to gain knowledge along the lilies of parliamentary rule, met one evening in the assembly room of our school and organized, also formed a constitution of this society, later named The Roosevelt Literary Society. The attractiveness of the organization greatly influenced other lligh School boys and soon the limited membership of sixteen was reached. The officers elected for the year were: Merle Locke, President: tllen Souders, Vice-Presidentg Fredericli Dorseh, Secretaryg and Donald Siegel, Treasurer. After the completion of membership, drills in parliamentary rule were commenced. ln a short time each member was familiar with any form of business procedure. Next the study and practice of dramatization and elocution and oration were taken up. livery member of the organization was greatly benefited by this course. After this was completed a short but very instructive course on debate was commenced. These courses were all carried on successfully with the aid of our instructor Supt. Fred A. N. Bailey. The social activities of the year to the present time are: banquets given to members only, lligh School party given by confiolidating with the Corin- thian Literary and a debate with the girls Society. The results of the courses in declamation and oration were displayed by various members at the banquet. The members that studied dramatization and elocution manifested their progressiveness in the program at the school party. ' Those following the course in debate showed their advancement by chal- lenging the Uorinthians. We are positive that every member has enjoyed and also been benefited by the Roosevelt Literary Society and those who will be in school next year will carry on. GLEN SOUDERS
