Senior Class Ofhcers RALPH BABEB President MYRTLE JOHNSON Vzce Presuient HARVEY TAPsco'1'r Secretary FRANCES GOODMAN Treasurer JANE WARING RUFFIN Semor Sponsor CLASS OF '49 Llke the dawmng of a new day September 1 began a new era rn our hlgh school career After the confusron of those first few weeks we settled down to the regularrty of school lrfe But lnterruptmg thrs came the annual magazme campaign sponsored by the Crowell Colher Companv W1th soarmg splrrts and hard work the Semors came out hlgh srlesmen for the year wvlth the glory of vlctory always comes reward and m this mstance lt was S20 to spend as we wrshed Slowly and unseemmgly Wllltei' descended upon us and our plans for a prcmc had to be converted 1llt0 those for a party to whrch we mvlted the entlre high school Rlght on the heels of the New Year came those long dreaded mld term wrth a few colors stlll flymg When C3StlDg tlme came we found unknown and heretofore undlscovered dramatrc ab1l1ty ID our mldst and the Semor Play was an even brgger success than we had hoped Wrth the awakenmg of Sprmg the closing chapter of our high school lxfe began Determmed to frol1c as well as to study we crammed the prom plcnlcs and partres mto our schedule-filled already wlth our frantlc bum mg of the mrdmght oxl for our final exams Followmg our Baccalaureate Servrce and Class Nnght we donned our caps and gowns for our last hrgh school actrvxty graduatlon In lceeplng with the custom we journeyed to Cabell Hall of the Umverslty of Vlrgmla for this triumphant note of farewell 1248? exams-but after then dust had cleared we found that we had come through - ,l ?,-

x fx avi FACULTY er ' 'B-0 as Q :gps egg . C X . Dey, from Norfolk, came this ye r to with the tiny tots in the Hrst grade and to them a good start in their educational careers.
