Two of the new-comers in our English department were Mr. Baird, teaching English I, and Mrs. Jones, teaching English l, ll. Mr. Coats, Mrs. Jones, and Mr. Carpenter chuckle over an English problem.

ENGLISH IS BEING TAUGHT in a much more ractical and functional manner provement a student 'has learned to speak and write English well while in high school Mr Coats a new comer to the Eng- lish department this year taught Eng lush Ill IV He assured the students that good grammar comes in very handy when applying for a 'ob no matter what type of work it may be 3- Mr Kidd discusses public speaking with his English class. Mr Baird explains one of the rules of practical English to John Tennyson PEOPLE ARE JUDGED not only by their actions but also by the manner in which they speak. For this reason good English is important to every man woman and child. The home has a great influence on the way a per- son speaks simply because people have the tendency to imitate and accept the way others speak as being cor- rect.
