THE LION SCOTTS HILL SCHOOL SCOTTS HILL, TENNESSEE These two pages contain pictures that bring back many happy memories to many different people. We all remember our chemistry class, driver ' s education class, the elementary Christmas program, Christmas at school, Senior Christmas Party, and the many other activities that make up a school year at Scotts Hill School 5 fn u _ m _l i JjdjL W a8 1 L_- — t ; 1 FORWARD We come to school to learn about a truth we can meet and witness. In searching for it, we find a common bond which ties us together with more strength. Our teachers help us to discover these truths through gentle persuasion and guidance, but most of all, we help each other by caring enough to give our time. These things are certainly true of the students and teachers of Scotts Hill School. TABLE OF CONTENTS TITLE PAGE SCHOOL LIFE FOREWORD DEDICATIO N PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE FACULTY SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION SENIORS JUNIORS SOPHOMORES FRESHMEN JUNIOR HIGH ELEMENTARY FAVORITES ATHLETICS ORGANIZATIONS YEARBOOK STAFF ADVERTISERS DEDICATION We, the Senior Class of 1974, would like to pay a special tribute to three people who have helped us to reach our goal. They are Mrs. Margaret Dyer, Mr. Joe Mac Hampton, and Mr. Jerry Lynn Ivey. Many people play a part in our lives every day and without their help and assistance we would not be able to achieve our goals, but there are certain people who have played a special role in our work this year. As a result, we would like to take this oppor¬ tunity to dedicate our yearbook to them. To you, Mrs. Dyer, we wish to express our deepest gratitude for the many things you have done for us. You were always ready and willing to lend a hand and help whenever you could. As we built our yearbook, it was plain to see that you were the hardest-working senior” of all. In this dedication, we want to thank you again, Mrs. Dyer, for all your love, patience, and understanding. To you, Mr. Hampton, thank you for the continuing patience you have had with us in our most trying times. With the help and assistance you have given us, our yearbook has become one of the greatest in Scotts Hill School ' s history. Your untiring efforts as a sponsor and advisor has made our Beta Club what it is today. So in order to show our sincere appreciation, love, and gratitude, we didicate our yearbook to you. To you, Mr. Ivey, you’ve only been with us a short while but it seems like always. We realize you can ' t fill anyone ' s shoes and that ' s not to be expected. After all, you ' ve done such a tremen¬ dous job filling your own. You have always been willing to cooper¬ ate completely with us and everyone else. The changes made since you ' ve been with us have been in the best interest of the school, students, faculty, and everyone else concerned. You ' ve accompanied our teams on all the ball trips. These are just a few of the many things you have done to make this year the best for all concerned. As we said before, to you, Mr. Ivey, we dedicate this edition of the 1974 Lion. Again, for all the help, love, understanding, and patience you have shown, we offer this dedication to Mrs. Dyer, Mr. Hampton, and Mr. Ivey. 6 OUR PRINCIPAL MR. JERRY L. IVEY PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE To the students of Scotts Hill School: This has been a very pleasant experience for me to be associated with the excellent youth that you are. I truly hope that this year¬ book will help you reflect upon many pleasant experiences. To the graduating class, this is the beginning of a more impor¬ tant phase in your life than any other you have experienced. For the most part, you will be making the decisions that really matter about your future and the future of our country. I hope that the guidance you have received from your parents, your teachers, and all your friends at Scotts Hill School will help those decisions be the right ones. Congratulations for your accomplishments and best wishes for a successful and happy life. FACULTY MRS. GERTIE MONTGOMERY County Aid MRS. JEAN EASON Secretary MR. JERRY LYNN IVEY Principal MRS. Three of these years was spent as principal. He was with us about two months this year. He devoted all his time and energy to make this school a better place for us. He was always kind, patient, and understanding with us. He is missed very much by Scotts Hill School. We would like to express our appreciation to him for the many pictures he made for our yearbook. 13 BUS DRIVERS Fred Hughes, L. C. Then Scotts Hill School is oui Alma Mater . . . As we reflect back over our years at Scotts Hill School we have many happy memories. Our last two years have required more work than the others. This page contains pictures from these two years. Some of the out¬ standing things are the Junior-Senior Prom, getting pictures made, building a yearbook, decorating the Christ¬ mas tree, the Senior Christmas Party, homecoming and many other things. We look forward now to the remain der of the Senior year, the mailing of the yearbook, the Prom, Graduation. tiffin • ADVERTISERS 8 SCOTTS HILL FUNERAL HOME AIR CONDITIONED Oxygen and Z way R.adio, Equipped Ambulances Phone 549-7491 Scotts Hill Phone 549-7491 T ennessee Compliments of DOCK AND MARYANN WOODY Scotts Hill, Tennessee 9 GLEN MONTGOMERY AND SON DOZER WORK Scotts Hill, Tennessee Phone 549-3981 DECATURVILLE ■ • • OaOaDigLaAaNaD DECATURVILLE FOODLAND Phone 852-2971 In Decaturville on Parsons Highway We Accept U. It has been a long and hard job, but we are very proud of our efforts. There are many people to whom we owe our thanks because without their help we would not have been able to publish our book. A special thanks goes to the people who purchased an ad, bought a yearbook, and many people in our school who devoted time for our work on the book. We hope that you will enjoy the book ' and treasure it more as the years pass. THE YEARBOOK STAFF
