Unsung Heroes Nobody can ever know the troubles that these bus drrvers and prm cxpals see every day The year 1950 51 has been an unusually d1ff1cult one ln many respects Several tlmes blustery storms have played hop Sklp and Jump across the roads leadmg 1nto Scottland Snow dr1fts made them hazardous Old Tlmers say that th1S has been the worst wmter 1n thelr recollectlons Cold waves spread across the pI'31116S many tlmes One cold mormng the thermometer stood at twenty degrees below zero but the falthful bus drlvers brought all the students to school Mild weather followed and then the rams came Then as one Old Tlmer sald the bottom just naturally fell out of the roads The busses plovs ed through the mud and slush for several days but f1nally Februar5 13 It became 1mposs1ble for the busses to be drlven over the gravel roads School was closed one vseek Durmg th two weeks that lfollowed many students were brought to school ln cars Later the bus dr1vers were able to dr1ve over most of the roads A boy ln Enghsh III wrote m h1s theme A bus drlver has lots of trouble mamly mud xce and kxds Not only do the bus drlvers have troubles but also the grade school and h1gh school prmclpals have troubles about a thousand and one each day To anyone doubtmg the truth of th1s statement we edltors suggest that he V1S1t the 0ff1C8 of elther pr1nc1pal for two hours durmg any school day Then he would understand In the upper plcture on the opposlte page left to rlght are Herman Spencer Hlgh School Prmclpal Bernard Stultz Bus Drxver Bxll Cralg Bus Drlver Leon Dugan Bus Drlver Paul Wllson Grade School Prmclpal glen Mallory Bus Drlver Omar Hamm Bus Drner Med W11l1s Bus rlver L - , . . . - . . . , . . . .. . .
