THE SCOTTIE SCOTT TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL 1960 THE STAFF OF 'Vx ALMA MATER . . . ADIEU In June of 1960, Scott High will be no more. There will be no more seniors To trod upon its floor And gone will be the spirit, That won so many games, And gone will be the players, Who've brought us so much fame. The teachers that we really liked, Although we didn't say, And how our likes and dislikes Had changed from day to day. The friendly Hi's, from everyone As we walked through the halls The lasting hint of friendship Reflected on the walls. And visits to the fountain That we managed in every class, And praying that in English, We made the grade to pass. The golden bears we followed, At home or at away. And life and death within our halls, Are memories to stay. So even if Scott Township Will soon be in the past, It's spirit will be remembered, And ever will it last. For in June it will be no more. Each of these many years had memorable events. For Scott Town- ship High School has continued to grow for twenty-five years until this year more than eight hundred fifty students call it their school and more than two thousand alumni call it their Alma Mater. Those of us who have the distinction of being the last graduating class in this silver anniversary year will indeed have many events to remember. And in this last of the Scotties, we have tried to convey to you our idea of those worthwhile happenings to be remembered. Then when the cover of this book becomes tattered and its pages worn with age, memories shall live on for many generations. 8 A v W ADMINISTRATION EP LL CHARTIERS VALLEY JOINT SCHOOL BOARD SCOTT AO' gf 15' Dr Haudenshleld Dir Jorgensen Dr Bungesser 'Nlr Dowldchuk Preszdenl Preszdent Vice President Secretary Joznt Board Scott Board Mr Gum Mr NIcMurray Hr Tandcrhorst COLLIER '51 .7 N5'qs P f- w Wir Host 'Ur Bchlmg 'Nlrs Ewmg Nlr Ixlrbx 'Hrs Lewellyn Preszdenf Vzce Preszdenl Secrelary 10 Y , 4 1. iff ' 5' L J , -o - 2 v- NT- 5 L It Q- A I .L I s A , 'Sm- . The year was started off at band camp near Somerset Pennsylvania. There the band worked on marching formation and concert music. This year during marching season the band did precision drills. It is well known that precision drill is the most difficult of all types of marching. The Scott Township High School Band was the only all precision drill Jr.-Sr. High School band in Pennsylvania. The band attended all football games as well as a band festival at Stowe I' wp. This year the concert Band is exceptionally good being strong in every section. Two concerts will be presented at Westminster College along with a Pops concert and the Regular Spring Concert. There are going to be three recitals open to the public. These will be two regular recitals and one advanced. The first two will be for the regular members of the band. There will be approximately 18 in each. These will show the general musicianship of the band. The final will be for the advanced members of the band play ing different solos. 114 SCOTT TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND 1 -A r ' ' . 9 ., ..,, It - 'J ' . 'A I Y N P 9 'Q Di. Who would ever think that this tranquil setting is the scene of a year- long struggle-a struggle characterized by clacking typewriters, constantly buzzing saws, laughter, groans, shouts, and occasional threats? As all worthwhile strug- gles are carried on for a purpose, so is this annual race of man against time. We publish a book . . . Oh, the staff? STUDENT COUNCIL This year is the tenth consecutive year that the Scott Township Student Council has been the governing body for the students at Scott. Officers from each homeroom and class provide an equal repre- sentation from the school. Meetings are held once a week. During these meetings, the home- room and class presidents plan and discuss ideas which have come up in their homerooms. The Student Council sponsors assemblies, Pep Days, the magazine campaign, seventh and eighth grade socials, and dances. The Student Council is a democratic government in the school. It tries to instill leadership in its members. It controls the interest of the students, and by effective cooperation, it operates efliciently. 129 JUNIOR PROM May a 1959 STARDUST 7 ..-- 'w E KEN, fu gym 'lx --.LL 'a .
