Prophecy of the Class of 1948 Time really llres I thought as I took my seat rn Scott High s Audrtorrum A good many of the class ol 1948 are back agarn Ten long years have passed since we sat here on Commence ment day Thrs trme however we come back to a community concert that holds a great deal of interest to us because tonight we are to welcome back Helen Grlbaugh rn private hle Mrs Charles McAdams who rs now a noted concert pianist and an old class mate ol ours As 1 look around I see Evelyn Colyer coming down the aisle I call to her to come srt next to me She tells me that she rs now supervisor ot nurses at the Philadelphia General Hospital and working hard as most nurses do She tells me that Mary Maser is nursing rn Lancaster General Hospital and that she has become Mrs Davrd Thompson Mary s Inend Iulra Ashworth rs nursing there also Among other nurses Evelyn mentions rs Mildred McGrnnrs one of the supervisors at Chester County We notrce Alice Stiles coming down the aisle As she srts down behind us Evelyn asks her what she is doing now that she rs away from Coatesville and she tells us that she rs a supervrsor ol music rn a Philadelphia High School and as a sideline the choir drrectress of a church choir there She tells us that Mrs Raymond Ferguson Dot Smith back rn 48 rs on her staff as an instrumental teacher Alice tells us that as she always en1oyed plays she really enyoys the new Barn Theater that recently opened on the outskirts ol Quaker Crty Dolores Wagner rs director of dramatic arts there and a few of her pard cast are B111 Goebert Ins Goldstein and Hannah Gladrng who rs rncrdently the first woman disc Jockey Phrladelphra has had who runs a program ol her own Across the aisle we notice Marie Shesko Morris and husband Irm Marie rs now trarnrng girls for robs with the T W A Airlines and rs the mother of twm boys tour years old We call her over and she excitedly mtorms us that Betty Roper an old chum ol hers rs decorating her new home the home Manes husband Irm a contractor burlt We ask her where her varrous high school friends are and she tells us that Betty Lrttle Dr Obrlda rs a beautrcran and harr stylist at Wamer Brothers Studios Iohn Dazro another old trrend rs a dentist with Ioyce Curry as hrs private secretary We recognize Dolores Carolenuto immediately when she enters her picture having been rn so many magazines lately She looks very attractrve as does her friend Shrrley Myers a brg name iashron designer who designs most of the clothes that Dolores models The show begins and we are forced to put oft our lookrng around until rntermrssron During one group of numbers Clara Crossan and Lillian Connor smg some duets Clara Lrl playmg the part ot the vrllraness as back rn 1947 48 Evelyn says she saw Lrllran while on tour rn Phrladelphra and that Hazel Nate Flynn rs Lrllrans personal manager and pnvate secretary Hazels husband plays baseball for the New York Yankees At rntermrssron Edith Hogg enters She rs the editor ot Ladies Home Ioumal now She was with Betty Russell an occupational therap st in Chicago and Barbara Donahue who writes for Womans Home Companion Alice Markle enters then She has Louella Parsons old column rn the Inquirer and rn a recent article she rntervrewed lean Regener Alderman who is rn Hollywood makrng a picture wrth Tommy Dorsey Daisy Maxwell McCorkle arrrves and comes over to say hello Tom rs detained on a business tnp and cannot be with us Daisy tells us that she loves her 1ob as manager of Sak s Frith Avenue Dress Sto e Daisy always enroyed designing clothes and her commercral preparatron helped her to the envious positron she now holds Dr Rrchard Greenwood Bob Hennessy and Bob Morganroth come rn together Bob Hen nessy rs a druggrst Bob Morganroth rs an engineer and m govemment work at the present and Dick ot course is a line doctor Head ol the secretarial stafl at 'he U S Veterans Hosprtal rs Martha Forbes Palmer who srts down front near Phyllis Beclr Ferguson a competent teacher and her husband Iohn rs a mechanical engrneer We wonder what their trve year old son and tour year old daughter are doing without them We glance at the back of our program cover and notice that a good many ol the class of 48 are patrons Mr and Mrs Roland Norton Mrs Norton was Betty Allen rn 48 Mr and Mrs Vincent Vergara Wera Wawrenuk rs now cr coach s wife?
