REVIEW ACT THE THIRD I945 46 Our year was begun with the happy feeling that we were seniors and privileged Under the strain of necessary occupational Army divisions our classmates continued to be called for selective service Recalled assemblies include Malor Imerys discussion about Our Future Role in Germany and Iapan Sports assumed their usual prominent place on the activities calendar sportsmanship was evidenced through victory and defeat The school acquired a mascot Chief Red Raider from our benevolent board member Dr Harry G Scott All efforts continued towards securing the peace stamps and bond sales paper drive and clothing collection conducted Good times reigned at Hubba Hop Victory Dance Christmas Formal Soph Hop Iunior Prom and our Commencement Formal Ex servicemen returned to our classrooms to complete requirements necessary for the issuance of diplomas Pictures Mutiny on the Bounty and The Tale of Two Cities attrlbuted to successful Visual Education periods Our Annual Christmas Carol Service was resumed superb direction artistic backdrops and lighting were effective Sports enthusiasm was highlighted when 50 girls practiced determinedly in preparation for varsity participation In the Varieties of l946 many new talents were discovered among the underclassmen Tribunal s Traffic Squad employed an entire masculine group first since its inception as a school organization In formal clothes we enloyed the rhythmic tunes which we shall always associate with our Commencement Dance Our trip to West Pomt deserved most superlative comments we returned a sleepy but satisfied group Never shall we forget moved feelings which accompanied the Baccalaureate and Commencement Services New eye bank proved to be the latest American contribution to science The new international center for the UNO shall be located in the US somewhere east of the Mississippi Hirohito the living god and archpriest of Shmto renounced his divinity and embraced Christianity Every allied war command approached normalcy with the exception of the tangled Chma Burma India chain Our forthright new US Latin American policy hoped for leadership commensurate with power New dimensions added to radios entertainment this was attained through the media of television Events of 1945 found China embroiled ln somethmg close to civil war World War II Veterans enrolled in colleges to such a degree that civilian admission was a serious problem Out of storage came the US auto industry with 75 000 new cars in one month production to be tripled Remote control piped rhythms from the auditorium of Manhattans Carnegie Hall 3 000 tive addicts overflowed music hall Lockheed Aircraft turned out sleek Constellations' for the worlds airlines secret blind flying radar aids released Dismantled War Labor Board established National Wage Stabilization Board Dissention between labor and industry strikes in steel auto transportation communication and public utilities Reconstruction for world fashioned as 35 nations signed Bretton Woods agreement Accelerated rate of army demobilization abruptly yammed on brakes nation has global committment Motion picture critics hailed They Were Expendable Aspirations for One World peace and qoodwlll towards all men understanding faith hope and charity lncriminated. convicted, and indicted. war criminals were condemned to die for atrocities.
