Katherine Anne Meadows was elected president and Ferris jones vice president. Betty Pelphrey served as secretary and treas- urer. The bell sounded after the class had completed the iirst round. It looked bad for awhile but after a short rest the class came back looking fresh. The year of 738-739 found Ray Turley, president, Eula -lane Fulton, vice president, and Katherine Anne Meadows as secretary of the Sophomore class. This round was close and the class stood up well against the opposition. At the starting bell on the third round Ray Turley was again elected president. Jimmy Meadows was vice president and Katherine Anne Meadows again was secretary. Some well placed punches in this round was the junior Carnival, the play HKeep on the Sunny Sided. and the junior-Senior Prom. The Class took this round by a slight margin. Now the class entered the last and decisive round. jimmy Meadows was elected president and jack Hunter vice president. Katherine Anne Meadows served a third term as secretary and treas- urer. A knockout was scored by the class in the play LfThe Tower Room Mysteryll and other activ- ities and 87 Hnished standing up. i l Jimmy Meadows ....... .................. .............................................. The Hawks won 6, lost 2 and tied one. The Hawks scored a total of 147 points to only 61 for their opponents. The Waymen topped their successful season on Thanksgiving day by defeating their old rivals, Seth's Sherman Tide. The Hawks trimmed the Tide in a beautiful ball game on a beautiful day, 12-6. The Tide scored in the first minute of the second quarter. However, the Hawks were determined to win that game. They came back in the second half and scored twice to win a hard-earned victory. The Hawks also led in first downs, 14-7. This was the Hawks first victory over the Tide during Coach Wayas regime. This victory also brought the Championship of Boone County to Scott High. Scott and Seth shared the title in 730 and 740. Coach Stewart Way came to Scott High in the fall of l37 from Ceredo-Kenova. The athletic teams at Scott had been in a slump for more than 3 years. Under the new Coaclfs guidance the teams, both basketball and football, slowly and steadily climbed to newer heights. VVithin two years Coach Way had developed the Scott High athletes into a team feared on the basketball court and football field. Under Coach Wayls rule the Hawks were at their worst in his first year. They won only 2 football games and 8 basketball games. However the Hawks enjoyed their most successful year in '3o. The football team won 8 games and lost only one. The basketball team had their most successful season with 21 games won. VVe take off our hats to Coach Vklay and the Skyhawks.
