ANDREW G. RENSKO PRINCIPAL Four years ago this class, unheralded, set a precedent. For the first time in the history of Scott High School a ninth grade class entered these doors in pursuit of four years of high school education. It wasn't easy for this class to blaze the trail as it wasn't easy for the pioneers to blaze their trails through the wilderness. Some upper classmen looked down on those they considered to be interlopers. They thought you weren't good enough. Some people are against change. Some people may sometimes feel that newcomers do not belong. The Class of 1966, however, was able to summon up the courage and dutifulness to prove to the doubters that it did belong. I am happy to be counted among those who always have had faith in this class. The fortitude which you showed as trail blazers will indubitably stand you in good stead in the future. Your class is facing challenging tasks and responsibilities such as have never confronted our youth before. Never have we had so many Americans so far away fighting for freedom and democracy. It is comforting to know that the future of our country is in the hands of brave and devoted young men and women like you. My best wishes to each of you. » Sincerely, Andrew G. Rensko

MR. RUDOLPH CEUGOI ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL It is customary to direct comments such as these to the graduating seniors, however, I feel the remarks I am about to make are applicable to all students, not only upon the occasion to their graduation but throughout the various stages of their education and even after their formal education has been completed. You have been the constant target of the advice and counsel of your parents and teachers. Ever since you can remember someone has been advising you as to how you might benefit most from your situation in life and how you might better aid in the more desirable development of your abilities. Your parents and friends have passed on what experience has taught them to be some of the most important lessons in life. In school you have been exposed to the ideas of the great men of all time and have constantly been urged to work hard and strive to improve yourself and your position in our society. The tragic feature of this entire situation is that many of you have lived under the influence of this type of guidance but have not reacted towards it. You can listen politely to your parents, teachers, coaches, and friends but unless you make a positive reaction towards what they have to offer you’re simply wasting their time and yours. The best advice of counseling in the world is useless unless you react positively towards it. Your accomplishments in life will be few and undistinguished if you’re to rely upon wishful thinking as the major means of fulfilling your goals. Therefore, if it were possible to pick one feature of your education that was most important, I would say it would be the development of the trait of reacting positively towards your educational experiences. The efforts of your educators are useless unless you aggressively attempt to change in accordance with what you have learned to be good and purposeful. If you make an honest effort to follow this type of philosophy, your education must return great dividends and lead you to a full and satisfying life. Sincerely, Rudolph Celigoi
