SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS DR. CURTIS CLAY

ADMINISTRATION xVi I i , t Without the efficient work of the Scott High School administration, it would not have been possible for the past school year to have been so successful. These people, many of whom the students of Scott High School do not know, have worked assiduously to give the students the best education available. Throughout the past year, the administration has not only made it possible for the students of Scott High School to obtain a fine education, it has also provided for the many extra-curricular activities. Although many people think that these activities are useless and students should be using their time to study, the members of the administration, because of their keen insight, realize that in order to succeed in this swiftly moving world, our students must be well-rounded and able to adapt to whatever difficulties they may encounter in life. At this time, the students of Scott High School would like to thank the members of the North Braddock Board of Education, Dr. Clay, Mr. Rensko, and all others who have worked during the past year to strive for a better educational system. The seniors, in particular, would like to express their gratitude for having been so well prepared to meet the world which they are about to enter into as adults.

DR. CLAY’S MESSAGE It would be folly to think that with graduation one's learning is completed and conclusively ended, that one can relax and take things easy, forgetting about knowledge. This is far from being the case. We are living in a world which is changing so drastically, we must change too or be left behind, for if a person graduates today and stops learning tomorrow, he will be uneducated the day after. The revolutionary changes being wrought today result from the rapid expansion of knowledge in many fields. From the most infinitesimal reaches of the atom to the most remote reaches of the universe, humans are discovering, classifying, recording, and compoterizing new information at an astromical rate. Scientific knowledge is being developed at such a fantastic speed that some experts believe we now are acquiring as much new information in three months as we acquired in all the years of human history up to now. Incredible as this seems, these experts have their computers to prove their point. It is impossible to even faintly imagine any end to new discoveries of knowledge. Thus it behooves us to acquire and apply this knowledge. It is a Monumental task but one which we must recognize if we are to carve out our own individual niches in civilization. 7
