It was August, 1960. For the seniors of 1963, it was the beginning of three of the most important, memorable, joyful, and yes, even sorrowful years of our lives. As we timidly stood around the doors waiting for the bell to ring, a TV cameraman was taking pictures. We must have been horrified (and showed it) for he laughed and said to his partner, “You can always tell the new ones.” Well, that was our beginning. Since then we’ve experienced and gained many things. We’ve experienced joys and sorrows like: the time our team beat Brad-dock, the time Susie didn’t make it for majorette, the time John was star of the basketball game, the time Joe got all A’s, the time our best boyfriend stole our best girlfriend, and many, many others. But, more important still, is what we’ve gained. Besides a host of lifetime friends, we’ve gained a well-rounded education which, in all cases, serves as the basis for everyone’s future life. With our high school education we will start a new life. We shall make a new beginning. With our new beginning we will take with us what we have learned. With all the basic elements of life, such as the fact that all men are created equal; life is not all joys but also sorrows and we must learn to accept both, and the fact that we must work honestly and vigorously for what we obtain, combined with the education we received out of books, we are prepared to meet the future with open minds and open hearts. For this we would like to sincerely thank our wonderful teachers who are responsible. We thank them not only as teachers, but also as friends. Yes, Norbra Hi, has given us many memories, but this book will serve as a memoir, a most treasured one, of the wonderful times we’ve shared. And, to the underclassmen, it serves as our wish of happiness and success plus this bit of advice: “Make the most of your years in school for you can never go back and make them up.” That August day was our beginning, but with this book serving as our everlasting remembrance we will never have an end. We, the senior class of 1963, bid farewell to our beloved Norbra Hi.

SUCCESS, HOPE ; We, the Senior Class of Scott High School, wish to present this year book as a token of our affection for our school. We hope to record on the following pages many of the joys and a few of the heartbreaks we have experienced. We shall take you from the first days when we fearfully entered its portal, to the last days when we eagerly, yet sadly, realize we must close the door on this chapter of our lives and take our places in the adult world. Our journey will be quick, but we hope you will like the trip as well as we have enjoyed escorting you on it.
