MUSIC DIRECTOR Mr. Womelsdorf GUIDANCE CURRICULUM Dr. Kirschner As curriculum coordinator, Dr. Gale R. Kirschner is vitally interested that every child in the schools shall have the opportunity to cultivate his talents and abilities to his best interest. All educators reali p that one of the most important functions of education is to have each child work to the limit of his capacity. To gear the class to the ability of the average pupil means that the exceptional pupil wastes time and becomes disinterested because of the repetitions required for the pupil of average ability; and, at the same time the pupil of lower ability becomes disinterested because the subject matter being taught is beyond his comprehension. For that reason students of the North Braddock Schools are being put into groups according to their ability. Courses of study are being revised and provisions are being made for teaching each group on the level on which it can learn. In this way every students will be better prepared for entrance into college or into the position which he might take after he leaves high school. 22 Mr. Hillenbrand
