The modern bridge that arches the tumbling Conococheague Creek, the picturesque lake, the stone school marker in its sylvan setting, and the stately old farmhouse under its canopy of green, cannot fail to favorably impress the visitor as he winds up the shaded drive to the buildings on the higher ground. ,- T v-,M Ziyi, like ,IV 4, ' ,tv N W! ,t,,,:hg,tf,VJ V, N 'jeg 2,21 A. ,, ,way f 'Hx ,-fn ' , 1 '- H' vwwi 'Lge' W gf w , w,f,. ra ,V V fy' , , 'ra -V .,- ,my ,, ,,,,d':-Q b -JL V, iQ-ifff, N Wvngxit 4 ,1 V if 3. .5 -, f . ATHLETICS ...and the Cadets Went! Went! The Scotland Cadets, a midget team in the giant Blue Mountain League, made it known to their larger opponents this season that they are a team to be reckoned with in the future. While their re- cord was not overly impressive, it is much better than that compiled in their freshman year in the league. They won three games over Northern, Littlestown, and Biglerville. They tied Big Spring in a T3-I3 game. They lost six including one to Gettysburg, the league champi- ons, who had to come from behind to eke out a one touchdown win. This we promise, the fighting Cadets are on the way up. VARSITY TRI-CAPTAINS Andy Bria Walter Shout Glen Lgmben ,. Football Lets hope that Coach Peck doesn't have a wrong number. BLUE MOUNTAIN LEAGUE ALL STARS Willis Roupe David Howard When the sports writers of the district newspapers picked the best players in the Blue Mountain League, it was no surprise to anyone at Scotland to learn that two ot our seniors were on the All Star team. Willis Roupe was named as the best fullback in the league and made the first team. Dave How- ard was cited for his rugged line play and placed on the second team as center. VARSITY SQUAD In Front: R. Marnick, G. Metzgar, H. Maillard, W. Roupe, W. Hayden, W. Shauf, J. Harrold, T. Paruch. Second Row: E. Cunningham, W. Spencer, R. Bandish, P. Boehme, P. Covert, J. Fayson, D. Myers, L. Shaffer, G. In Back: K. Miller, D, Howard, G. Eshleman. Willis Roupe is on his way to a thrilling 85 yard touchdown. Varsity Seniors Twenty two of our senior foot- ball stalwarts turned in their pads and helmets last Nov- ember and now wear with pride the varsity S, Their gri- diron heroics are behind them and their talents will be missed next year but there are those on the junior varsity squad who will move up to take their places. Basketball The Cadet cagers came out on the floor this season with a relatively small team, a new coach, and only one let- terman with a full year of varsity experience. It was evi- dent from the beginning that they were in for a long season. The going has been rough, and with the sched- ule past the halfway mark, they have iust five wins to show for their efforts. They play an exciting brand of ball and fight right down to the final whistle. The Shauf brothers drive well for the inside shot with Bohn, Miller, and Howard hitting well frorn outside. As the boys gain that invaluable experience, we expect a strong finish. COACH Mr. Ralph Dusman VARSITY SQUAD Seated: Glen Shauf, Dave Howard, Kurt Miller, Walter Shauf, Wayne Bohn. The labor of long years, as many as twelve for some of us, will be culminated in a short, simple ceremony in our own outdoor ampitheatre. We will, hopefully, get our di- plomas and ioin the thousands of loyal alumni of Scot- land. The passing of the last school days brings to an end the many memorable moments we shared as classmates in a great school. All have known the pleasures and suf- fered the anxieties that, now past, will remain as memo- ries to be recalled and savored many times in the future. The people, the places, and the events that figured in this, our last great year, are depicted in the book that you hold in your hands. ,W iff? WWWW W Amy WV' Mlfjgjyy W r Q JU QTWW W Q ww?
