HISTORY OF 1943 GRADUATING CLASS Beglnnlng way back 1n the year 1930 vs hen the rolls flrst bore the names of those who were to be the class of 43 we started our educatlonal hfe as small bewlldered students trymg to unrax el the puzzlmg narl of tangled events Through the com plexlty of evcamlnatlons we struggled maklng acqualntances along the way and fmd mg comfort mn knowlng that the others were new and just as bewlldered We are stlll remembermg the flrst year or two although It IS not quxte clear Out of thls bewlldermg fog we emerged 1nto the fall of 1935 regardlng new faces mth a condescendlng a1r the air of bemg a veteran of many school months As the proud occupants of flfth grade we passed an exceptlonal year practlcal ly all the class passed In the slxth and seventh grades we remember the stlffenlng arlthmetlc problems Some of the blgger boys and glrls were transferred to the f1rst and second platoons quarters The ones left behmd stlll remember the lonellness of the dormltory and the empty beds That was when we flrst reallzed how close we vsere to each other In che fall of 39 we agaln resumed our educational asplratxons Hovs well we remember when we were allowed to attend the flrst soclal event of the year the Hallowe en Dance Learnlng the flrst steps vs as the harde t as most of the boys can tell you tant part ID the Dress Parade on Commencement Remlndlng ourselves proudly that we were now hlgh school freshmen we re turned from varlous sectlons after enjoylng our vacatlon and durlng the school term of 39 40 we began to take a more lmportant part 1n all events and act1v1t1es That year we had our flrst class party We proudly constructed our center plece ln the deslgn of a keystone adorned by a large forty three IH red and Whlte We felt very good about that event It marked our entrance 1nto the more sophlstlcated socxal hfe of the school September nlnteen hundred and forty and the sound of plunklng footballs came from the fleld' Early tralnmg had started and some of our now agmg class were palnfully going through the flrst stages of football tramlng The Jay Vees had a good team that year most of us as sophomores played The glrls started taklng an 3Ct1V6 mtere t ln hockey basketball and other sports It was durmg our 41 42 year that we started to feel the rlpples of our approach mg Senlor year All that term we were on the recelvlng end of the teasmg profusely handed out by the dlsdalnmg graduate who constantly reminded us of the comlng responslbllltles and trials of senlorlty In our semor year the cllmax of twelve years of gruellmg and laborlous work of pleasant and stlmulatlng experlences we coordmated our efforts dlllgently strlv mg to surpass the envlable accomphshments of our predecessors In wr1t1ng thls hlstory we have trled to brmg back pleasant memorles not only to the mmds of those departmg but also to the mmds of those remammg For future classes we w1sh a less turbulent world and a brlghter future so that you may record ID your fmal class hlstory a wonderful tlme was had by all Thlrty , V a . . . 7 K K 9 S K 1 Y. 7 ' S 7 .
