Text from Pages 1 - 268 of the 1976 volume:

Through your halls we passed daily, Moving toward new ideas and greater understanding, New friends, experiences, problems, and life itself. Each year you brought us joys and woes: Walking the halls, hazy lavs, a joke to lighten class A special friend to walk with to class, pizza buns, detention. We'll remember these things well, When, looking back from the perspective of our active lives. We realize how much you meant to us, Scotia High. 2 3 THE NEW-SCHEDULE BLUES Early this September O'er our schedule we mused. Now that it's October We're even more confused. Double fourth and drop third. Is this week red or white? Now, tomorrow's normal; Confusion's reached its height! Even lunch is hazardous; Maybe you'll find a chair. Quiet is unheard of; As for the food, beware! School board's saving money. But risking our sanity. Do I have gym or lab ? Is today Cor D? Chris Perrone s We find ourselves only in everything we see— The more new friends I know The more I'll learn of me. —Chris Per rone 6 And let there be no purpose in friendship. Save the deepening of the spirit. And in the sweetness of friendship. Let there be laughter and sharing of pleasure. —Diana Keenan Sometimes I look behind and cry out. Sometimes I try to look ahead and Find myself frightened to take a step. I cannot move back, nor can I move forward. So, all I have to live for is today. Phyllis MacFee 9 From the time we get off the bus. To the time of our last class, We are busy— drawing, building, reading, painting, bending, and baking. With our minds and hands working together. We will succeed at the greatest endeavor. Linda Frederick 10 SCOTIA ■ GLENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL Active bodies Active minds Experience Success n VICTORY Isn't something that is Forgotten easily. Behind the victories are Weeks of work. Sweat, lectures, plays to memorize And hardest of all Defeat. Defeat is hardly considered a part of Victory. That's what you say. From (he defeats Weak points are strengthened. Through defeat comes a stronger team. The next time you hear the word Victory, Remember the work and the stress Remember (he defeats, losses. Remember the strength you possess. Remember you are the high and mighty TARTANS!!! 12 u In Dedication The 200th birthday of the United States should give everyone cause to reflect on our heritage. We have grown up in an atmosphere where free- dom is taken for granted, and prosperity is regarded as a right. Never have we known oppression and, although we have experienced riots and dis- sension, we see this as a product of our freedom. May we, as a result of our brief exposure to democracy, learn to appreciate our privileges, reject distorted materialism, and reaffirm the principles upon which our nation was founded. May we have the courage and determination of our forefathers and be willing to make the sacrifices to keep our country free. —Anne McGuire 14 15 Something is passing. The rise and fall of great nations has been seen throughout history. Our great nation, the Tartan Soccer Team, is rising. This season the Varsity moved from a last place finish in 1974 to seventh place. Tremendous student leadership and great personal effort on the part of all players were responsible for this improvement. The future looks bright, but the roadway must continue to be paved with dedication. They had better make some points! 171 172 173 J.V. Although other Tartan Junior Varsity soccer teams have produced better records, no other team could probably match the 1 975 version in terms of producing tension and excitement. Six double overtime games, an emotionally draining 2-1 last minute win in monsoon weather at Shaker, and twelve one-goal decision games in all were indicative of the kind of action that this year's J.V. squad offered. 174 Coach Collins 175 GIRLS' FIELD HOCKEY VARSITY HOCKEY TEAM: SITTING: Carolyn Male. In addition to winning four of their last five meets, the runners looked impressive in both the Sche- nectady County Meet and the Class A-AA Sectionals. In the Sectionals, Scotia finished sixth out the fifteen competing schools.
