one DOLLAR! TOT DRIVING FASTCI WALK ON THI 1 covered bridge in Vermont photo by Winchell In our youth we progress along the path which, in time determines our future. As we go, many obstacles stand in our way. To aid us in our crossing —there is a bridge. Since we do have obstacles to cross in our youth, Scotia-Glenville High School is our bridge. In our four year stay we learn to cope with decisions, people, and life. We leave feeling more complete. fust as we often stop near the end of a bridge to look back—seeing where we have been, to look ahead—trying to see where we will go, and to look down—reflecting and trying to understand our growth, we pause here before going on. We hope this yearbook, the Acropolis 1967, captures the re- flections of this year. The Bridge was built of mass L+ '. MARTIN Superintendent of Schools Dr. Miles J. Martin retired this year as a member of the Scotia-Glenville Board of Education after serving as a board member from 1962 until 1966 and as Vice President from 1965 to June 1966. He and Mrs. Martin now live in Washington, D. C, where he is working on a special consultant project for the federal government. 13 DR. MILES J. MARTIN Mr. Donald M Letts Principal His continued interest in sports is illustrated by his affiliation with Section 2 of the New York State Public Athletic Association in which he is a past president and is currently serving the organization as treasurer. Mr. Donald M. Letts, Principal of Scotia-Glenville High School, is a native Scotian. During his high school years his interest in sports was evident when he served as captain of the baseball, basketball, and football teams. He first became quarterback for the football team in his Sophomore year when the coach, faced with a shortage of players, brought up to the bench his manager, Don Letts. 14 Mr. Letts relaxes at his summer cottage at Sacandaga. Mr. Richard J. McGuire Assistant Principal Mr. McGuire ends coaching career with Niskayuna triumph. 1967 ends a decade at Scotia-Glenviile High School for Richard J. McGuire, a period in which he has competently bridged many fields—as a teacher, a coach, and an administrator. This year marks two significant milestones in his Tartan career; the an- nouncement of his retirement from coaching and his appointment as Assistant Principal of the high school. He leaves the coaching post with an enviable overall record of 53 wins, 19 losses and 4 ties. His teams also brought to the school three western Con- ference championships and a perfect season in 1964 when his team went undefeated and untied! This year completes Mr. McGuire’s first full year as Assistant Principal. His capability and enthusiasm in this new position is already helping Scotia-Glenviile High School maintain its tradition of excellence. 15 Secretarial Staff MRS.
