A very active girl, she bowls and roller skates. She also has a part- fime job in Schenectady. Shirley plans to work at the Credit Bureau. MARY LOUISE CONDE Lou is generally quiet, but has a wonderful sense of humor. She likes winter and is a familiar figure on the tow at Johnson Road ski slopes. ln the warmer weather she rides horses. Lou chooses her movies especially those that star Rock Hudson or Liz Taylor. Next year she will start her secretarial career. JOAN COLTON Joan was nearly a leap year baby. She is one of our prettiest girls, and proved it by winning a beauty contest. After some vigorous roller skating, Joan says there's nothing like good ole southern fried chicken. Maybe 'she's our future Miss or Mrs. America. ELLEN HOPE CREVER Hope stood out most attractively in her Choralaire uuniformf' She listens to popular music and indulges in hot fudge sundaes. As secretary of her Senior class and treasurer of German Club, Hope proved her ability and pleasantness in working with people. She plans to go to Michigan State next year. ANN COMENZO English-born Ann Comenzo, can usually be heard talking or listening to jazz at Tony's. Friendly Ann dislikes stuck-up girls and homework. Rock Hudson and Lucille Ball are tops with her. Her future ambitions call her to a secretarial job at the Knolls next year. Peppy and sweet, that's Ann. BARBARA DAVENPORT The girl who helped in the office 7th period with such pleasant manners is Barbara. Her courtesy and sense of humor will make her an asset in some other office. She plans training as a comptometer operator. She takes time to swim or ride or skate on blades or rollers, according to the season. 1, . . Q 5 , ks ix! zxgfs f . My xr-if-:fwv ' 52 -- ,K A74-.,S:. Basketball and reading occupy some of his time, but a good Marilyn Monroe movie is always pre- ferred. Next year it's the Navy for Tom. Maybe to see the Waves. RONALD FRANCISCO Ron was the last senior to have his picture taken. His black hair and blue eyes photographed very well. He sang bass in seventh period chorus, which was just about the only period that he wasn't taking one of the business courses. After enjoying the coming summer, Ron is looking forward to a four year stretch in the Navy. WILLIAM FOODY Bill. an honest-to-goodness a v i a to r , has a particular poise that comes to men who know the air. As a Choralaire, he soloed too. The audience was really quiet when his smooth baritone sang Wanderin . Down to earth, he loves spaghetti, and likes to fiddle around with radio setups. ARLENE FULLER Though quiet, Arlene possesses a warm and friendly personality. She's a thor- oughly likeable girl. Maybe the secret is that she likes to listen to people. She prefers movies to TV. Rock Hudson and Debbie Reynolds rate with her. Next year Arlene plans to attend an area business school. VICTOR FRAENCKEL Vic, who is also known as 'i.l0lie , is one of our class comedians. He loves steaks with mushrooms, and reads a good book occasionally. He likes to listen to both popular and classical records. For a research paper he chose to write on nuclear physics: he wants to attend labs at either Harvard or Amherst next year. RICHARD GIANNELLI Dick, our varsity end, owns up to having Gina L. for his heroine. One of those guys with a grin, he was born with no silver spoon in his mouth, but a pizza pie, to which he has been addicted ever since. Dick's plans for the future include courses in chemical engineering or accounting. -fel:-ix. ' fb. if . 1 4 4 - Q Wi r-vii' ,X f 4 A .. X, i if il: 'H , K X: 3' M41 .ZXS ,f 154-ffmk ' ' f 2,1 ? You can find him playing basketball during his free time. Or possibly he is eating hot fudge on cho- eolate for Tom has a bigger appetite than two fatter fellers. He plans on college next year. PATRICIA LONG Italian spaghetti. Tab Hunter. and Debbie Reynolds rate high on Pat's list of favorites. Besides playing the piano. she is a roller-skating queen of Cuptill's. Pat hopes to add her name to the graduates of Mildred Elley in 1957. .if of J Fvwv L ,.' ' RICHARD LEMON mek. a Hill Skunk. gives a lot of time to basketball in sehool and out. When in elass he wears that remote look, he may be dreaming up a new guided missile or remembering the big trip to Mexico with Bob Bevan. He has that future engineer's look. ROBERT MARTIN Bob is a musician and mechanic and has activities to prove it. He plays sax in the Melody Kings and works on cars and airplanes during his spare time. His favorite hangout is the air- port and he thinks chow mein is terrific. Bob is interested in the Air Force, or further training in aeronau- tics. ALICE LEONARD Alice Leonard, one of our more pleasant and reserved associates. is a zirl with a variety of interests. She enjoys music, plays the piano, likes roller skating and playing tennis. Her main objective is to become a qualified stenographer and possibly complete a year of college. We notice she's at home in the kitchen, too. CAIL MATTERSON She has been a first-rate organizer especially for Triangle affairs. Gail likes to water ski and swim in the summer. and ski and work for the Y.W.C.tA. in thi- winter. Her desire is to go to college and study math. With her high marks on math regents we feel she'll succeed. CONSTANCE McNERNEY Connie, the Spanish speaking part of the McNerney twins, was born March 1, 1938 right after Kay. She loves sports and is equally at home on a tennis or basketball court. She intends to go to the University of Toronto and then go on to nursing school. SUZANNE MILLER Sue proves that an excellent attendance record can have something to do with excellent marks. Although one of the quieter members of the Class of '56, it is hard to find a better story teller. She plans to pursue her favorite hobby, talking, at Russell Sage in the fall. KATHERINE McNERNEY Kay, the zippier part of the twins, moved with Connie from Binghampton, N.Y. just before the start of 1954. She is crazy about hot sausage especially on pizza. She also intends to go to the University of Toronto. Her research paper for English made her more or less an authority on the heart. She has a happy one herself. GARY MINEHARDT Gary is another camera enthusiast although some of us didn't know it. His ability may be put to use by Uncle Sam when he joins the Air Force in June. Let's hope the Air Force has pizza for his palate. ROSEMARY MILLER Rosemary is one of our class home- makers. She has achieved the goal of taking every Home Ec. class offered by S.H.S. lt's believed her speciality is child care. Her quiet but dependable ways make her a well-liked girl in everyone's book. Next year Rosemary plans to go to a comptometer school. MURIEL MINOGUE A very attentive sales girl at Grants is Muriel. She says swimming is her favorite sport but she has no favorite swimming hole. Anywhere that's deep enough will do. Muriel plans to dip in the Pacific when she visits her sister Caroll in California after graduation. After the trip to the Pacific Coast, she will try for a secretarial job for which she has prepared in the Commercial Course. FAYE MIXTER Known to all as Jackie, this girl came to us from Troy. She loves to dance. jitterbug, tango, rumba or anything. ,lackie's big hobbv is drawing. After studying at Buffalo, Jackie hopes to be an art teacher. She drew the letters for the cover of this book. ELAINE O'MALLEY Acropolis Editor-in-Chief Elaine has been reserving 309 for her second home this year. After hours of work on the yearbook. her strongest crave is straw- berry shortcake. Her very little spare time is spent walking, usually over to Ridings' house. Drew University has drawn a promising Freshman for Fall '56. GORDON NELSON A '50 Hudson must seem tame to the former driver of a soap box derby with a lawn mower motor attached. Sports cars take up his spare time, with sleeping taking up as much time as possible. Entering service or coming back as a P.C. are .his plans. lf the latter, he can still keep us happy and satisfied over at ,lim's Store. ROBERT ONDERCHAIN Bob drives those hot cars to school. He was born in Michigan but has devel- oped a liking for that un-Michigan-type dish, chicken chow mein. He's a fan of Marilyn Monroe. ln his spare time Bob likes to develop pictures. That's when he's not working at Lathrop's drug store. The army expects him next year. we Wair- tifiiwif .ax QM was on e ore indus ' sf l 0 c ia basketball team. t i play well, but he kept his sc oo rks up to par. Earm is sure to take a brunette over a blond any day. Next year's plans spell out Middle- bury for our boy. ALLAN PARKER Ability to dress becomingly and to make a neat appearance describe Al Parker, and gave him the class vote for best dressed man. He can be found at Tony's Candyland most of his free time. He is always on the lookout for his favorite heroine Gina L.. Hobart or Syracuse would be a good place to look for him next year. PAUL PATT Paul, pioneer of the crewcut, says his special talent is for eating and sleeping, but we know Hdifferentf' He's one of the top students in the class and a member of National Honor. He also won his letter in track at his first meet. His technical questions always put teachers in a dither. He wants to go to M.l.T. KENNETH POWELL Ken worships Abe Lincoln as the ideal man and like most American boys he claims Grace Kelly is the idol of his eye. In his spare time he plays the banjo, reads, and draws. Seldom heard from in class discussions, he's right in there when it comes to a written test. Next year he plans to study engineering at R.P.l. BARBARA PEEK If you noticed a little dark-haired sen- ior with a sweet smile running down the hall some noon, you may have met Barb. Barbara's disposition and de- pendability make and keep friends. Her one pet peeve is disc jockeys who do more talking than record-spinning. She will become an elementary teacher at Plattsburgh. JOHN QUACKENBUSH John enjoys camping, fishing and sleep- ing.
