S G Muslc Department High School WINTER i CONCERT SLWtAY WIEfcXKM I DECEMBER 12, 1954 Advertising You Can Never Stop LEARNING HIGH SCHOOL graduating classes too often are told only that there is a constant need for engineers, technicians and other specialists in American business and industry. That's very true, of course . . . perhaps more so today than ever before. But it is equally true, and too often left unsaid, that America needs men and women who know the ideals and goals our forefathers strived for . . . men and women who appreciate the things that have made America strong down through the years. This appreciation must go a little deeper than just knowing what democracy is and how it works. It must include a belief in our free enterprise system . . . one of democracy's most priceless heritages. America needs people who understand why this system of competitive enterprise must be preserved and strengthened, so that our country’s standards of living may continue to lead the world. There are, unfortunately, some people in our own country . . . perhaps even in our own community . . . who would like to see the free enterprise system weakened or destroyed. To safeguard this vital heritage, you must understand it. That means learning, observing and believing long after school days have passed. American industry will certainly continue to need engineers, chemists, economists, and other specialists. But industry feels it equally important that these specialists and all its other people be first and foremost the kind of clear-thinking, under- standing men and women who are good Americans.
