The study of earlier civilizations gives the student a background for understanding the problems of the world today. These problems are made known to the student through a two year study of United States history. Our Mathematics Department, headed by the very capable Miss Roberts, has more than kept up with the Held. As the emphasis has changed, so has the instruction. Classroom instruc- tion has been enriched and new courses have been in- troduced. It is to the credit of the school that the new building was planned to include special mathematics laboratories which are used by students in the last year of Algebra and those taking Plane Trigonometry and Solid Geometry. 1651, LJ

The Choral Department, under Mr. Denniston, has choral workshops for group singing and classes in voice and music ap- preciation. Here, too, one fincls Senior Chorus, Men's Chorus and Las Cantacloras busy rehearsing. These groups provide a Christ- mas assembly each year, and, in the spring, stage a choral festival. The production this year is Bells are Ringingf' Across the hall is Mr. CllLlCCfl1lO,S Worlcl of instruments. The members of Band, Orchestra and the Moonglowers have spent many hours here, The fruits of their labors are seen when the Band marches at football games, the Orchestra plays at assemblies and the Moonglowers conduct their own assembly.
