OCIAL STUDIE Maps - newspapers - films - slides - magazines - all of these aids help to make social studies more than just textbook courses. The study of earlier civilizations gives the student a background for understanding the problems of the world today. These problems are made known to the student through a two year study of United States history. Here it is that the pupil comes to realize that as a citizen of these United States he will have great responsibilities to fulfill if his privileges in this great democracy are to remain. MR. Our Mathematics Department, headed by the very capable Miss Roberts, has more than kept up with the Held. As the emphasis has changed, so has the instruction. Classroom instruc- tion has been enriched and new courses have been in- troduced. It is to the credit of the school that the new building was planned to include special mathematics laboratories which are used by students in the last year of Algebra and those taking Plane Trigonometry and Solid Geometry. 1651, LJ
